• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Question about custom material on ADE 2020

In order to change the priority, you need to make ForceDrawAboveRunway "True".

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

As I stated in my apology, they show fine for me also now. Sorry that I don't know what sort of MCX setting (or MSFS update) caused my problem. Colors in the gltf conversion remain too light compared to the originals in the mdl, but I guess it's the gltf format that's the issue since MCX shows...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

I'm feeling really bad now about starting something that initiated Arno's downloading grief. Sorry Arno, because I am not now seeing the brilliant white instead of material colors on my objects. Have no idea what was causing this when I started this thread, and am unaware of any steps taken to...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

I went through the same struggle but got through it by installing the xbox app as suggested above and also in instructions I was led to within the MSFS forum.

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

Thanks Dick. Your help to me in my early early efforts at using LODs in MSFS pointed out removing the textures in the final LOD, and I was successful in doing that. It is now using the latest MCX build that I am having issues. An example is attached. In MSFS the hanger becomes entirely...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

In FSDS, materials are colors (with other characteristics) and textures are applied images. Asobo wants objects to have no textures in the final LOD. Should I ignore that requirement? My objects converted prior to the latest MCX build show the "material" color properly instead of the bright...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

Hi Arno. Has there been any progress on this issue? If you need any examples or other input, let me know. Ambient materials are displaying fine. I'm too old to learn to use Blender and MSFS Developer Mode, so I still use FSDS to create models, MCX to convert them to gltf and ADE to place...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

Very informative, except it makes my brain hurt.

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

Interrupting the rant against MSFS SDK, updates, etc., a further comment on the OP is that adding textures to all surfaces of objects could solve the problem, but removal of textures on the final LOD of the object creates a flash of bright light as the object fades into the background. A dark...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

No errors or warnings except for the usual missing business file. This hasn't always been a problem, and I think it started when I updated MCX to the latest build. The .mdl file loaded into MCX shows material colors correctly, but the MCX generated .gltf file displays all materials as white in...

MSFS Material Colors not Displaying in MSFS

Why do colors of untextured materials not display on objects in MSFS as designated and shown in MCX? All untextured materials are showing as bright white. This is on .gltf objects converted from .mdl objects using MCX.

    Use LODs in ADE MSFS2020

Usually flashing is caused by an object having a surface too close behind another textured surface and the alternate surfaces show with motion. You realize that there are checkered shed library objects?

    Use LODs in ADE MSFS2020

There is nothing wrong with what you displayed in your post. All of the files shown should be in your package sources>....modelLib folder with or without a subfolder. The single .xml file contains the instructions on how the other files are handled for LODs. As Jon says, some further...

    MSFS Models in HF2

When you started the project, did you check models under asset groups?

    MSFS Models in HF2

I couldn't be more specific because I didn't know and was on the way out the door to play tennis. The menus in MSFS are vast and not always logical, but the airport markers can be turned on and off in the assistance options in POI in case you haven't figured it out.

    MSFS Models in HF2

Somewhere in the MSFS options menus.

    MSFS Models in HF2

Then perhaps you need to bring this problem up in the MCX forum. MCX should produce all the files necessary for the PackageSources>modelLib folder.

    MSFS Models in HF2

The .gltf, .bin, .xml files should be in the PackageSources>modelLib sub-folder in your ADE project files along with the textures in the associated texture folder. Same as before the hotfix.

LODs with gltf objects for MSFS

1.5.0.0 c9fbe692 DEV 1/5/2021 Didn't look past 1.5.0.0. Just downloaded latest dev release and all LOD gltfs show as LOD 100 instead of -1. Thanks Arno.

MSFS Scenery object does not show.

I am extremely happy with the way ADE is now handling models.
