• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    Blinking lights not synchronized

I am creating a scenery for coastal British Columbia, and would like to accurately show the blinking marine lights that appear on aeronautical charts of the area. One type of light does three quick blinks once every twelve seconds. In the dialog box in the FSX effects tool, I have set the...

How to get your scenery object from your mind's eye to FSX

Having just sorted through the various tutorials, SDK's, utilities and forum posts on the subject, here is a quick tour of the process for making your FSX scenery a "reality" 1. Make sure you have FSX Deluxe edition, that's the only version with the SDK (software development kit) 2...

Can't find Gmax Mdl GUID in object placement tool

I created a simple model in Gmax, converted it to an FS Model (.mdl), created mip map textures and used the FS gamepack menu utility to assign a GUID. Opened FSX, started the Object Placement Tool, but couldn't find my GUID on the drop down list of objects there. Did I miss something?

    Weathervaning seaplanes

I am creating seaplane bases and would like to add some non-AI floatplanes that stay in one location. I would say static aircraft, except I don't want them to be static! I would like them to point into the wind, which is what real seaplanes do when at anchor. Ideas, anyone?

Less rounded, more angular terrain mesh?

I have been making mountain scenery for FSX, and would like to incorporate mesh that has sharper ridges and more pointed peaks. Something in FSX or the BGL compiler is rounding the edges a bit. Is there an easy way to get things more angular, without recompiling everything at a higher...

Removing vestigal flattens in coastal areas

I recently created photo scenery for an area of coastline that has numerous fiords extending into mountains. I overlayed my photoscenery over a 38m terrain mesh, and created precise watermasks for the fiords using alpha channel bitmaps. Everything compiled fine, and the photos fit the mesh...

    Worldwide replacement shore/coastlines

I would like to see higher resolution replacement coastlines/shorelines worldwide, a la the coastlines in Holger Sandmann's Glacier Bay series, with beaches, waves etc. Has someone done this already? If not, the data must exist somewhere in vector form; I would be happy to do the work of...

Tileproxy app loads photoscenery from VE or Google on the fly

Many of you have probably already seen this, but I recently discovered a freeware application called Tileproxy, developed by Christian Buchner. It allows you to specify a web based mapping service such as Google Earth or Microsoft Virtual Earth, and it automatically creates photo scenery in FSX...

    Scenery Search Engine

What I would love to see is a search engine that could index all scenery available on the web, from all websites or torrent trackers, and display them on a map. I don't care if this is a feature inside of Flight Simulator, or a mashup with an online mapping site like Google's.
