• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Sorry. you misunderstood. I am a dab hand at repainting (if I do say so myself) and have been able to understand and use the weirdest of paintkit layouts and formats. As far as the HYPE Airbus H145 goes, they give you a Blender 3D model (and a couple of others) to create your repaints on but...

I've seen that Hype (HPG) have been cause for some really huge numbers of repaints from many diverse repainters. I have discovered their Blender based paintkit and am impressed (almost). But what I don't yet understand is how are repainters able to create liveries for the people on board? I can...

    MSFS Aerobatic aircraft

Good Lord! That is a load of information to digest - many thanks Ronald! I will generalise a bit here and say that I am following the fora at flightsimulator.com - that's a given. Despite all claims by many contributors saying that they love the sim I can tell that most "pro asobo" commentators...

    MSFS Aerobatic aircraft

Is there a skilled coder around here who is maybe working on a set of flight dynamics for an(y) aerobatic piston engined performer. I have been on a couple of beta test teams for msfs aircraft of this genre and all I get is "this is too difficult in msfs" or "Asobo have shut the door and thrown...

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

Oh darn! No, I don't have a crystal ball... I really meant the latest SDK update and not SU6 - isn't that on beta at the moment? Heaven only knows; there has been so much confusion around updates. You have SU and WU with hotfixes and patches all over the place. So, the SDK currently stands at...

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

I've just been reading the SU 6 updated SDK notes - it now looks like you can have the SDK to almost create the whole "livery pack". Admittedly I haven't tried it yet as I haven't fully capiched the instructions. Give me a week or two, but some of you more able painters might care to study the...

Blender Flush Rivet textures, Blender, MSFS

A bit of background info here perhaps? Mostly anecdotal for entertainment, but quite relevant if you are trying to create a rivet texture as authentically as possible. As an aerospace engineer I learned my trade from the roots up. Rivetting is a basic skill that most aircraft mechanical people...

    Making 'comp' Textures for Aircraft

Ok, I have figured out what the comp textures do and how the RGB channel affect the painted aircraft. (I think) So when I looked closer at some of the existing textures I note that the three channels can have three different images. Shading in red, matt/glossy in green and mettalic in blue. I...

    Texture Paint on multiple objects

AHHHHH!!! Found It! Save the collada as gltf 2.0 and then go for a new blender model and import the gltf 2.0. That allows joining of objects and now I can paint a livery across the whole model onto one texture

    Texture Paint on multiple objects

My bad - I don't speak the right language I guess... I did not create the model myself. It is the Airbus H135 by HPG - they provide the paintkit with a collada (DAE) model. I can mark doors, tail boom, main body individually but I can't paint them as one item. In an msfs gltf model I can join...

    Texture Paint on multiple objects

OK, I have found that I can easily create textures on imported msfs gltf and drawing across different objects - i.e. wings and ailerons - is possible by using the "Join" command. As long as the objects are on the same texture sheet that is. I have now come across a DAE (Collada) model where...

    layout.json tool has gone AWOL

Does anyone know where that Auto_json tool can be found? Asobo seem to have dropped it from the msfs forum website.

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

@OzWookiee and co. I have the Jabiru and the LongEZ both repaintable in my community folder - the beauty is that they work simply by adding a new [FLTSIM.xx] block to the aircraft.cfg - IRIS has the edge for providing an excellent set of PS paintkit textures, but the LongEZ is slightly more fun...

    Blender Wrapping stencils

In a similar vein, is it easily possible in Blender to load a texture from msfs and see the results appear on the 3D model inside Blender. I think I should be looking at shrinkwrap too, but at the moment the concept seems a bit too abstract for me. Mind you, so did painting directly on the 3D a...

    Blender Wrapping stencils

Hopefully a simple question: When I use an image as a brush in substance painter, I can wrap it around a tubular fuselage. But £19 per month just to wrap one picture or flag onto a fuselage? So... can I do this in Blender? My efforts so far are a part success - mirroring works, backface cull...

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

Okayyy... Progress! The IRIS Jabiru is in the community folder. It has a standard aircraft.cfg. I can create a new texture folder. IT WORKS (mind you, I didn't expect anything less from IRIS) ...and it is a D sight easier than all that faffing around with Asobo madness ;) Oh yes; it is still...

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

The "Jason" tool... Yep - me too. But it's not actually the answer to my problems. I use it. Also, deleting the existing layout reduces file quantity by 1, so when the tool runs, I can create a layout with 23 or 24 files before saving the layout.json. Should I reduce it by one more and delete...

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

Agreed. See above. Which is why I keep asking how to get this damned problem right. No one has yet given me a workable answer. Not even your guide works for me. Sorry.

MSFS [GUIDE] Creating Livery Packages for MSFS

The whole model file - because it works for me atm. I have no plans on sharing my work until I can figure out what I am doing wrong. Why do some megapack liveries seem to work, when mine don't despite having an identical layout as far as I can see - and I have been checking since day one. I...
