• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A new stable version of ModelConverterX has been released, it is version 1.3. See the usual download sticky for all links.

Since it is 2 years ago that I released the last stable version, there are loads of changes. I won't even try to list them all. But the major improvements are:

  • Ground polygon wizard
  • Convert and place object wizard
  • New batch convert wizard
  • Support for reading X-Plane OBJ
  • Support for reading and writing AC3D (used by FlightGear)
  • Improvements to reading aircraft MDL files
  • Fixed lots and lots of bugs
  • And much much more...

The manual is fully updated to match this new release now. So I can say RTFM again :).

From today the development release will be a version 1.4 development release. I will later post more details about the roadmap for the tool.

Hi Arno,
I have tried this release. It is wonderful.
For the ground polygon wizzard, the window is long and the options are in the long list. I used wide screen monitor and I cannot see the "Convert" button below. The window itself cannot scroll down either. I think if it is possible to have scroll bar on the left would be useful.
Thanks for the wonderful tool.
Regards,
Tic

Hi Tic,

Last week I added a few options again indeed to that form. What screen resolution are you using? My screen is 1080 pixels in height and it fits fine. But maybe some people still have smaller screens.

I just checked, the form is 830 pixels in height now. So that will give problems on screens that are around that size.

Oh, that's my problem then. I use 1360x768 pixel wide screen. I cannot see the whole window.

Right, I'll redesign the form to make it fit again.

Send from my phone using Tapatalk, so excuse the short sentences and possible typos

Hi Tic,

I have fixed the problem. The layout the ground polygon wizard has been changed now.

The update is both in the stable 1.3 release and in the latest development release.
