• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello, @arno !

It's been a quite some time now using your tools, especially MCX. It is a great tool! Thx!
However, I think it can be further improved in terms of user experience.
This is not a request but a suggestion, how the title says )

What I think you could do to improve interaction with MCX, mainly it comes down to Material Editor:

• TABS: for different sim, different tab with related settings;
• Expand/Collapse categories. Also would be great if opened/closed categories could be "saved" so when we'll open MCX next time, they will remain in the state we saved them;
• and last, it would be nice to arrange categories as they would look in 3ds max material window, I mean in the same order.

And, of course, thank you for continued support of MCX, greatly appreciated!
Best regards.

Hi,

I use a standard .NET control for the property grid. it either sorts the attributes alphabetically or alphabetically within the categories (which are sorted alphabetically as well). So I don't think there is a way to sort them differently so that the order is more similar to 3DS Max. But the category names should match the groups in 3DS (at least for FSX I started that way).

For the tabs for different sims, why do you think that is more user friendly than the current dropdown box to select the sim version? I think functionally it is almost the same and personally I think a lot of tabs make the interface more cluttered.

I think adding a button to expand/collapse all should be possible. I am not sure how easy saving that state would be, I don't think the control natively supports that.

ok, I understand

oh man, I must say that I've never knew there's a dropdown box for that - now I see... then there is no need to make tabs))) that's awesome

Thank you!
