• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A very useful modeling tool - Instant Meshes

There's another tool I was looking at and was trying to look up but this may be a very useful tool for photogrammetry building modeling. What it does is help you re-mesh high polycount models to a target level whilst keeping the topology, there are tools in programs like Lightwave 3D but last time I looked at this type of stuff it was about 14 years ago. The tools are much more powerful now.

If you want to re-mesh highpoly model, you can make this work whith retopo addons on Blender.
It's very simple to create an low poly and you can use only one program: Blender. You can find a lot of video and addons to realize this function.

One example:

Yeah that one is good as well, planning to use that to re-model the photgrammetry model of the house, there's another addon as well that is even much more simple than these but I have to find it again. The Retopo in Blender requires a lot of manual work to trace everything, there's one addon that does it all for you.

That could be very useful for creating LOD models more easily... although probably not too useful for aircraft.

Yeah my plan is to use this for modeling buildings via photogrammetry. There’s a lot happening in the AI world that is amazing.

This is the tool I was after... Super fast retopology tool. Retopoflow... Hoping it helps me go from millions of point clouds to a workable building, but I don't have time to investigate it as I still have a long road ahead with Brisbane City.
