• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

About FSX and SimConnect?

Hello,

I am new to Flight Simulator X (FSX) and SimConnect. I downloaded FSX, but could not find SimConnect on the Microsoft webpage where I got FSX. But I did find a number of SDKs from Flight Simulator 2004 pages. They are

Autogen SDK, Netpipes SDK, Terrain SDK, Make Model SDK, Weather Themes SDK
Panels and Gauges SDK, Traffic Toolbox SDK, ABL SDK, Aircraft Container SDK
ATC Voicepack SDK, FSEdit SDK, BGL Comp SDK, gmax Gamepack SDK
Special Effects SDK, Cabdir Utility SDK

Are they SimConnect? Anybody could help me in how to find SimConnect and link it to FSX? Or could you offer some pointers.

I greatly appreciate it!
Daniel

Hi Daniel,

The SDKs sould come with the pro version of FsX once it is released. As far as I know it can not be downloaded anywhere (yet). As FsX is officially not yet released, I don't think you can get it anywhere at the moment.

Thanks so much for your reply, arno.

If I purchase Flight Simulator 2004, can I develop add-on's for it using the SDKs I can download from Microsoft?

Again, thanks a lot!

Daniel

You can. The FS2004 SDKs are designed to work with FS2004. So if you are planning to develop for FS2004 then that is the way to go.

While they may work with FSX it cannot be guaranteed and you will not be able to use any of the new techniques available in FSX.
