MSFS20 ADE 2020 Alpha 14 - Steam Test

Hello,
I decided to try the Alpha on my Steam install.
I opened a stock grass strip to see how the process might work.
The project seemed to work to a point.
I was able to save the project; however, upon trying to build two things happened:
1) The dialogue asked me if I wanted to copy to Community. It failed as there was nothing to copy. Why would it ask me at this poit before the project was built ?
2) The app did launch MSFS in the backgpound but it failed to build. I tried it twice with the last attempt after a reboot.

I also have an MS Store version of MSFS. I will try to use this same airport (not copying project) on that and report back.

I have now tried building a similar project with MSFS Store version.
It seemed to process without any issues. I was able to load the revised scenery and the small change I made was visible.

Perhaps there is something not quite working with the Steam version?

My Steam version works fine with my old ENGM project. Only thing is aprons and taxiway changes are often not seen in the sim before I delete the package from the Community folder before I Build from ADE and say yes to a copy to that folder. At my last build I had to remove the package, start FS with the default airport, then a new ADE build in order to see the changes. General FS20 problem?

EDIT:

I can confirm opening and old .ad4 project fails - ADE says found no package.

There is a known issue with the Copy to Community Folder for some Steam users. I am going to withdraw that function for further testing.

I can confirm opening and old .ad4 project fails - ADE says found no package.
I am not sure I understand that, Are you trying to open and ad4 project file or are you creating a new project file from an existing ad4 project?

I am confused with this project which correctly throws a compiler error about a duplicate package. The project xml indeed shows the package twice

I must admit I have never seen this before and while ADE is generating the package code I can't see how it creates this twice

Thanks for the reply.
I did some more checking today.
1. I created and ran the project with Alpha 11 - All good
2. I created and ran the project with Alpha 13 - All good

Based upon this and the fact that others with Steam version seem to be ok I decided to wipe out the Alpha 14 install and start over.

When I installed the first time I ran the installer as Administrator and then decided to run the
"Get-ChildItem "F:\ADE_2020_Alpha_14\" -recurse -file | % {Unblock-File -Path $_.FullName}"
before I started ADE.

This time I just let the installer run as a regular user making no changes to defaults and simply ran ADE after the directory was created.
I let it set up the default folders and saved.
I then ran ADE.
I created the test airport, saved and then ran the build.
This time it all seemed to work including the package copy.
I ran MSFS to check and it was ok. I then removed the package from Community.
I then copied my project over from the other MS Store install machine and ran the build on that project.
It also worked.

Maybe my initial install actions created the mess ?

Here is the xml from today for the copied and re-saved airport:

<Project
Version="2"
Name="PurpleSprings"
FolderName="Packages">
<OutputDirectory>.</OutputDirectory>
<TemporaryOutputDirectory>_PackageInt</TemporaryOutputDirectory>
<Packages>
<Package>PackageDefinitions\cfd6-purple-springs.xml</Package>
</Packages>
</Project>

The cmd output:

project XML: F:\ADE_2020_Alpha_14\F20\PurpleSprings\PurpleSprings.xml
temp dir: F:\ADE_2020_Alpha_14\F20\PurpleSprings\_PackageInt
output dir: F:\ADE_2020_Alpha_14\F20\PurpleSprings\.

That all looks fine. I am not sure what happened but it could be ADE related since it generates the project xml rather than the other way around. I delete all my projects now and again since I find that building and testing can throw a spanner in the works
