• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ADE FSX to P3Dv5

Is it possible to compile ADE projects for P3Dv5 when you only have FSX? When someone tried out our FSX scenery in P3Dv5, he saw default buildings on top of our current scenery which is not ideal.

The simple answer is no. This thread discusses the issue your user found with your FSX scenery in v5 https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/t...lier-project-files-to-use-with-p3d-v5.447641/

You need the v5 stock folders to be able to find the stock objects to exclude. In theory you could place a large exclusion rectangle over the entire airport ( or a series) in the hope of excluding the v5 objects. However these might clash with any micro excludes ADE created for FSX stock placements. Without v5 to test your results it would be hard going.

So if a v5 user sent us coordinates for any of the objects that needed to be excluded in the stock version, would adding a small exclusion rectangle to those coordinates solve the issue? Would smaller exclusions lessen the chance of clashes with other excludes?

maybe, but there could be dozens. if you send me your airport then I can probably fix it faster and easier than you can.

Thanks for offering to do that! I wouldn't want to waste your time though since I haven't finished everything yet and I know someone with P3Dv5 who is part of our scenery group willing to help out. I'm assuming that if someone does have P3Dv5, they just follow the instructions you outlined here: https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/t...lier-project-files-to-use-with-p3d-v5.447641/ More specifically they would just open up the ADE file, use the "load stock data" option, and then save and compile?

If you have retained any stock objects or signs in your FSX version project file then you first need to use Tools > Remove Stock Data Stock Status. Then use Tools > Load Stock Data and load signs and scenery objects. If you do not carry out the first step and you have stock objects or signs from FSX then these will get removed when you do the second step. Loading Stock Data first removes any that is already in the project. So just using Load Stock Data in v5 will remove any FSX stock objects and signs and then add back the v5 ones. Using Remove Stock Data Stock Status turns any stock signs or objects retained in the FSX project file into user objects or signs. Sorry if this sounds complicated. If in any doubt do both steps described above in the correct order.

EDIT

Bear in mind from that point on you have two different project files for the same airport that need to be compiled by the correct compiler(s) for that version. I suppose you could do all your work for FSX and then pass any updated project files to the person with v5 to process and test

Thank you so much! I'll make sure to show our P3Dv5 guy this and hopefully we can get it to work.
