• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AI Flight Planer issue using P3Dv4?

AIAE is a Windows Forms application. As such, it does not perform well on large, high DPI screens. Over the next few weeks, I will finalise some additional features, after which I will have exhausted all ideas for additions to AIAE. I will then try to migrate it to WPF, which should allow the application to scale correctly on large screens. I have no idea how to do that; I fear it will not be easy.

Then let me ask you another way.
Which helicopter would you like to use as an AI object?

Perhaps your approach is wrong.
And the aircraft wingspan/radius is your smallest problem.
The pure AI helicopters from MAIW have no problem with wingspan/radius.

From a technical point of view, AI helicopters are also just fixed-wing aircraft.
You could even let Santa Claus fly his reindeer in the simulator.
Provided there is a 3D model for it.

There are four AI helicopters here.

The “AI AgustaWestland AW139 Helicopters for FSX/P3D (JYAI)” has two traffic files in the download.
You can take a look at everything and modify it to suit your needs.

The PDF file (manual) for the “AI Airbus Helicopters (Eurocopter) AS365 Dauphin (JYAI)” describes how a helipad should be constructed.
The traffic file is also described here.

I tried that and that is not the issue.

I rather think it is the issue - you appear to have a high-resolution (4K) screen with the display scale set to 225% - the largest Windows offers and the reason why your desktop icons are enormous. AIAE, as the author has told you above, doesn't play well with these settings because it is based on older Windows technology. The only way you'll get it to display correctly is to set your display scale by right clicking on the desktop, click on 'Display Settings', then select a smaller scale than the 225% that I suspect you have. If you have vision issues that require you to use the very large icons and screen items, I'm afraid you'll need to bear with this process for as long as it takes to make the adjustments you need - you can always go back to your preferred settings afterwards.

However, if you use dedicated AI helicopters from MAIW (or the few provided within P3D) all of the settings will already be correct for including them in AI flight plans.
