• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aircraft blocked from entering hangar

I have just built a large hanger which I hoped to taxi my planes into. However they get stopped at the external wall alignment. These walls have s collision material on them could this be the reason? Should I use collision boxes instead?

Any collision material or collision shape will avoid the plane to pass through
So remove collision from the hangar if you need to enter into it

Thanks Mamu. Pity, I can walk through the hangar without any problems. Although some doors seem to be a bit narrow, so I will look into that tomorrow.
Also I have found stairs aren't climb able. You start to go up them and at the third step you hit an invisible wall. I wonder how the Burning Blue guys did it.

What collisions on a vertical wall were you planning for that didn't include your aircraft? I just ask because I am trying to figure out how to get a SimObject to fall straight down from an aircraft and it sounds like you already have them coming in at angles!

I mean yes, that's one way to keep AI from spawning inside your FBO. Also, it's a pity about the stairs. Is there an example of navigable stairs you know of you could share? My problem is that my virtual guy has so long a nose, every time I try to negotiate a staircase landing, my POV swings in an arc outside the building, I miss my step and stumble off the landing. Of course the walls are hollow or my really wide virtual shoulders would drag through them, so it makes it a little tricky for me to maintain my bearings, I can't just steer my way through by leaning on the walls like I do when I go to bed after those really long exhausting night flights.

After working on this blocking issue till midnight I managed to workout a solution. I removed the collision texture from the roof and separated the wall section that was over the door opening and removed the collision material from that. Now I can taxi into the hangar through the door opening. and can't go through the walls. It’s a strange one because I have a collision material on the floor.

More progress. I solved the stair issue by making it wider. Now you can walk up the stair to the mezzanine and look down into the hanger. Here's an in sim image. Yes I know I have a lot to learn about texturing.
