• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

I was going to to make Wallbake TQPF on Anquilla but adex9 tells me I can't as that ident already exists with the default airfield. I'm unsure how to proceed & would be grateful if someone would tell what I'm doing improperly..............................

I'm not sure what your problem is. If it is already a stock airport and you want to edit it, use File/Open Stock Airport and type in the code. When open, edit to your heart's content. Then save it in the ADE/FS9/Projects folder and then compilie it as a new BGL file in the FS2004/Addon Scenery/scenery folder (or in some other active scenery folder) and your changes will be present the next time you start FS9.

If this is an airport completely different from the stock airport, then you will need to pick another ICAO code for the airport. That has been done many times before, no big deal.

I agree with tgibson. I had this problem before. If no changes was created with an airport. Then go to stock airport. If you already have a addon scenery airport created then open it from that BGL.

Hope you get sorted.

Ian, I agree that if you have an AD4 file then open that. But if you are editing an addon scenery then all you will have is a BGL file. For that, use Open Airport from BGL the first time, edit the airport, then save your edited airport as an AD4 file and open that from now on.

As I wrote initially, I was going to make a Wallblake TQPF on Anguilla because the default is just a runway with stock buildings & I thought I try to smarten it up.
I started a new build but when I put TQPF adex9 told me I that ident already exists with the default airfield & wouldn't let me proceed.
I assumes my new build would override the default airfield.

I'll start by opening the stock TQPF (will save a copy) as I would like to get rid of the horrible buildings...........

Hi,

You do not need to save a copy since you will not be overwriting the stock BGL file. You only *open* the stock BGL file to provide you with a base to start working. You will then be compiling a new BGL file which will have priority over the unchanged stock BGL file.

I see, thanks.
Having done as you suggest I now have my edited TQPF airfield & have been successful in removing all the default buildings except this one. grab_032 (640x400).jpg
Would you know how this is done ? I deleted all the buildings from the stock airfield before saving but this appears & it's not on my saved Ade file.

Did you use load & save data check marked Library objects? If you use this then click one building object then deleted it. Save new AD4. It will be a disappearing object. Also, must use exclude area surrounding airport use marked "All".

Hi,

Since you started with a stock airport you should not have to load stock data. As stated above, if the building is not displayed at the airport in ADE, then you would need to create an Exclude Rectangle using the button with the yellow square set to All, or to Library Objects and Generic Buildings. This exclude rectangle should cover at least the center area of the building.

Hope this helps,
