• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airfield Signals Square Help

Hi all,
I'm currently creating a WWII USAAC airfield and need a signals square to go in front of the tower. Can anyone suggest if one is available to download or an easy method to create one to be inserted with ADE?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Nige,

I've actually done one in one of my airfield makeovers using ADE. Draw either four rectangles or or two L-shaped polygons to represent the square. It's a bit fiddly but if you zoom in to make them large you'll get it right eventually. When they're to your satisfaction make the surface snow. Works a treat! What I'd like now is a wind rotating Tee to put in it.

Use GUID 740ea90f-6007-4ea0-85f7-538ebcc3d8f8 in the Library Object Manager to position a Wind-T:

Hi George,

I did try one from FSX (not the same one as in your picture) but it was too big, ugly and yellow and didn't move. It didn't look correct in the square I had made so I passed on it and made a static white one in the same manner as I made the square itself. I'll try the one you've pointed out to see if that's any better as it looks very different. Thanks for your help.

Hi George,

Thanks, you've saved me the trouble of trying it again. Thinking about it I don't know if it would have moved, I never gave it long enough to see. One look and it was gone!

Hi all,
Further to my question, I have created a basic signals square in FSDS (it needs some tweaking still). Can anyone tell me if it's possible to export it from FSDS in a format where I can upload it to the airfield I'm working on in ADE, or would it have to be exported into another program and then converted?

At the moment you would need to put the model into a library BGL to use. However the version in test will accept a mdl file directly - maybe a week or two before that is released.

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the info, I can easily wait until then as I've still got some work to do on the square and also on the skin for the Mustang I'll be operating from the 'field.:)
