Hi Bigglesworth!
A f-curve is generated when ever a animation key frame is made. Blender use a interpolation to calculate all of the small changes that needs to be made for an animation key frame to key frame. I would look for an object that has been tagged with an FSX animation tag, and a start key frame with no other key frames for that object.
