• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Applying earth curvature correction to a city model for P3Dv4.5

Hi , I'm fairly new to this development stage so please enlighten me. I want to know how can I add the earth curvature to a 3d city for use in p3d v4.5. So here's exactly what's happening now. I have a model of a city which is quite large area. It doesn't have a ground poly as I used fsearth tile software to make the ground and it remains as a separated bgl file. So when I place this 3d city model in p3d , buildings close to the edges are floating above the ground. I suspect this is because I didn't correct geometry for the earth curvature. So I found this " fsx earth curvature " option in mcx and I used absolute altitude in meters and gave the correct coordinates. When I apply that all the buildings in the city model moves to the pivot point of the city model. So what exactly am I doing wrong gentlemen ?Any help would be greatly appreciate.

Hi,

It sounds like you are doing it right. In the earth curve editor you enter the location and altitude and then the model should be curved. If buildings are moving when you do that, that sounds like a bug.

Thank you arno , I was thinking to combine all the model parts as a one mesh. I'll let you know if that fix the issue.

Also with various model parts it should work, else you have found a bug.

Would you have an object to test with?

Thank you for the info arno , I would like to have an object to test with. So I can clarify which issue causes the bug. It has. to be either modelling issue or a bug withing mcx for some reason. Do you have such object ?

I mean can you provide me with an object that gives you the issue, then I can try to debug it.
