• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Apron layers/falloffs/ground merging broken after build

Hallo there everyone; I was hoping my first post would not be a question regarding difficulties with the SDK but here we are...

I recently went above and beyond (and crazy) with aprons and building of ground textures for the project of my local airfield. In DevMode, everything looks exactly as I would like it to look, however, after building, the
a) ground merging is suddenly more extreme than when viewed in DevMode
b) layered falloff aprons are suddenly at falloff 0 (or at least look like it) with sharp edges etc.
c) A two-layer-setup, layer 0 with base color, layer 1 with opacity 81 of /256 is the only one with ground merging, smaller and with small falloff, however the ground merging effect continues over the whole layer 0 apron.

I double-checked the layers to make sure there is no z-fighting going on; even with 2-layer-spacing the result is the same. I'm out of ideas (after 2 days of testing). Anyone having any ideas? Thanks in advance for any input you can give.

Cheers and best regards!
Florian

Update on this: Seems like MSFS doesn't like low-opacity layers over baselayers with groundmerging. Got rid of it and the merging errors were fixed. Interestingly, increasing the layer spacing on the other issues to 10 layers solved those, too... Anyone up for a group therapy?
