• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Assigning animations and exporting error

If I was compiling this model for FS2004 via makeMDL, the centre wheel could start its animation XYZ axis at any angle, and only taking seconds to keyframe those parts, no triangle node/s are required. The suspension / compression and wheel all become children of c_gear but only the wheel is required to have an animation part name because it is automatically keyframed by the FS2004 stock animation process.. The suspension operates as part of c_gear but does not require its own animation part name, you can call it anything. I worry about the future of freeware AI with the bulk of conversions being done on models more than a decade old and built visually very low to save on poly triangles for simulators and PC's now long past there useby date.

Sounds more like an issue of FSDS not working correctly with xtomdl, than an issue of XtoMdl itself.

Although I'm using almost the same x file for both MakeMdl and xtomdl in MCX. Main difference is the xanim file of course.

It may well be that Arno... like I mentioned, it has a lot to do with XtoMDL needing the XYZ axis to be set at all zero's for the animation part/s to work in a .mdl file as per the same way it was set in FSDS.

Hi,

Without more details of what you are doing it's hard to help you. Just a picture with the end result doesn't say much.

Are you using bones animations for your wings? It might have something to do with that?

I'm not quite sure. The result was after I assigned animations to an .obj file then exported to an .mdl file.
