• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 ATC assigning landings to runways closed to landings on both ends

Been working on my O'Hare project. I have the five 9/10 runways created, all with ILS approaches. Unfortunately there are a few instances where the simulator will assign me runway 10L for landing when I have both of those ends closed off in ADE (this happens when I am getting my IFR clearance to KORD (test run) and I am over the runway when I get my approach to expect).

I could delete the ILS for both ends, but I would prefer to keep the integrity of the airport and still have them since they are still there IRL.

Is this perhaps just a very rare instance and likely to only happen if I'm dead-center aligned with the runway in question that ATC says "fak it"?

Hi,

FS ATC only honors closing runways if there is another parallel runway that can be used instead. Runway headings must be within 7.9 degrees of each other for ATC to assume they are parallel runways. If they are not parallel ATC will assign that runway if the wind is favorable, even if it is closed for landings.

Yea but in this case there are 4 other parallel runways still active! We’re talking about O’Hare’s 9/10s

Didn't you mark up properties each runway for no take off or no landing?

Stuart
Yup. Here’s my setup for the parallels:

9L/27R: landings only both ways
9R/27L: takeoffs only both ways
10L/28R: takeoffs only both ways
10C/28C: takeoff and landings both ways
10R/28L: landings only both ways
