• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Autogen on photoreal textures

Hi!

Real nice to have the forum back online!

Ok, so, a topic that might have been discussed before, although I did not find a clear answer on Avsim. I´ve placed photoreal textures, and now I´d like to populate them with Autogen.
Does the FS2002 Annotator work also in 2004? I did a quick test, but nothing appeared. Hopefully a 2004 Annotator will be released soon...

Also, I use Sbuilder to export the photos to FS, and then the bmps are flipped. Does Annotator take this into account, or do I have to turn the bmp´s "back" before annotating?

Any answer is most welcome! :)

Thanks!

Yes, it should work fine. Did you have the agn files in the correct folder and no other scenery around that could exclude your autogen?

I noticed that as well. I think you should indeed make a flipped version again, use that to make the agn files and then copy those files to the correct texture folder.

I also noticed that Luis posted on the AvSim forum a few days ago that when using the new ImageTool the flipping of the texture was no longer needed (or something like that, can't remember completely). Maybe you can do something with that?

Hi again!

Well, I must confess that the question he asked at Avsim was raised by me, initially... Boy, do I mess things up! :)

The thing was that I had only water in one area that was to be covered by the photo-scenery - hence it did not appear in the sim. I inserted a landclass, textured by "custom textures, all seasons". Then, at the same time I changed Imagetool to a newer version. The textures appeared flipped in the sim, because I then had 2 layers of custom textures on top of each other. The version of Imagetool that you use with Sbuilder does not make any difference, custom VTP2-polys need flipped bmps.
Once I changed the landclass to a normal, forrested LC, the photoscenery appeared correctly. Of course, also Luis is informed about this by now. :o

I´ll try out the Annotator more serioulsy this weekend. I don´t have any objects in the scenery yet, and the exlude only applies to coastlines. More info later on!
