Background Image is not an image file

I'm currently trying to import an image into ADE to use as the background guide for my airport. However when I open the image I get the following error:

This file C:\file location\YBSU.jpg is not an image file. Please check the file details and try again

I have tried resaving the image on different programs/computers, renaming it, using a different file type and size and even emailing myself the photo and downloading it then importing it. With none of this working I went ahead and got a new photo to use as a background and got the same error. I can still however load images into ADE that are also jpg's or png's, it seems that JUST the satellite photos of mine don't work, everything else does. If anyone could give me some help soon it would be very much appreciated as I am heading away on holiday is less then a day and would like to get some work done in the morning.

Thanks in advance.

Can you post the image as an attachment here or if it is large then please email it to me - jon AT scruffyduck DOT co DOT uk

Hi,

if I remember correct, because I had this problem once, I had resize the image and make it smaller as from 7mb, just rsize the image with photoshop at my case.
I mean the image dimensions, for example from 9472x5632, make it down to 50%, I hope it helps.

Be also sure that your image is the same format as at ADE "Settings/Options/Images".

The issue with this image is the amount of memory it needs to display. It is 7424 x 8704 pixels. This represents an area of 7.4km x 8.7km. The amount of memory needed to display it is those multiplied together x 3 since the image is 24bit color. In total this is just under 200Mb of memory to display it. ADE has to find a single continuous chunk of memory to display this and that appears not to be available. The actual file size is less important than the area covered and the color depth. If this image were cut into several sections then it would be more likely to load properly
