• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Basic request on Apron lighting

Hi to everybody,

I state that I am a beginner in ADE. I am editing a scenario and I am doing quite well.
I have not understood well from the manual how an apron can be illuminated at night.
Are be applied Through a normal GP and specific texture? if so, How?

Another problem is that I don't know how to create the horizontal i(sign) ndications (e.g. indication of the parking number etc., tawyway, etc.)

Thanks so much

One solution is to add apron edge lights by using the add apron edge lights button next to the add aprons button.

You can right click on the airport background and choose the option to add a taxi sign. Once it's added, you can edit it's properties.

‘Apron edge lights’ are the blue marker lights that delineate the edge of the apron. They don’t illuminate anything. Illuminating the ground (and anything on it) depends on which sim you’re working with. P3Dv4 allows ‘dynamic lighting‘, which is an effect that stipulates a source and intensity, and the sim creates illumination of everything within the stipulated range and spread. In earlier iterations of MSFS/P3D, illumination is a lightened texture that is visible at night, but which does not actually illuminate anything (hence aircraft look dark over an 'illuminated' apron).

The 'horizontal' signs that I think Alexade is referring to are custom-made Ground Polys, not the taxi signs - which are vertical.
