• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

On the Blender Artists forum I found a nice 13-pages long Work In Progress (WIP) thread on how to model an aircraft in Blender.
This thread was created by Witold Jaworski and he shows you how to tackle the most challenges when it comes modeling an old WOII Bomber in Blender

I hope you all enjoy these free Blender resources.

I have his 4 volume work on my kindle desktop, and its the most comprehensive aircraft modeling tutorial I have found yet. He gives a very thorough treatment of how to build an aircraft in Blender. He and I have spoken via email about his modeling techniques. Although his perspective and end game is to do graphic art around aviation; he invited me to load up his P-40 example into FSX (I don't use it anymore) and P3D to see how it behaves (that was last year). Unfortunately, I didn't have the time then and now I'm knee deep in learning 3ds max, writing C++ cockpit/systems code, and some other related projects.

Before using all the techniques described in his series I would load up the P-40 and see what it does to the FPS count. But I suspect that it won't be a problem. And I would be interested to know how one of his models performs because they are pretty detailed.
