• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

blocking fs with CAT

Hello,
It is a mystery for me!
I compiled on several occasions one of my animations which passed without no difficultées. :)

I modified my project somewhat (without touching with animations) and wanted recompiler the whole and since whereas compilation with cat then bglcomp occurs without concern, fs blocks with the loading of the scene with 0%. :banghead:
If I compile the file mdl resulting from gmax, all occurs well!

I also tested, by compiling the scene with the games pack of fs2002, then with CAT for fs2002, there too all occurs well and fs functions!
Then or can located the problem?

Thanks for helping me to solve this problem!

The same thing happened to me, but it wasn't caused by CAT, check out the following:
- If you are using an AFcad file in your scenery check for isolated nodes with the fault finder tool.
- Check the gmax model and look for errors during the mdl compilation process.

Enzo

thank you for this fast answer!
I do not think that that comes from the compilation of the Gmax model because no error is announced during compilation.
Moreover, if I created my file bgl with the mdl resulting directly from compilation I do not have any problem with fs if in fact naturally animations are permanent.
I do not see either the report that there would be with file AFCAD since the object is a coach and that animation relates to the opening and the closing of its side doors.
Especially what I do not understand, it is that that functioned perfectly on several occasions!
but sometimes it is necessary little thing so that a machine is put out of order!

cordially! :)

Well, at this point lets wait for Arno, he will surely be more helpful than me :)

Does FS also crash during the loading? Or does the loading just take very long.

Usually such problems are caused by a too long SCEN table. Can you check the _0.asm file and have a look how many entries the SCEN section has?

Hello Arno,
blocking is carried out with the loading of the scene, the cursor remains on 0% and a few moments later, the usual message which says that fs was obliged to close and with the file of error!

No matter what I tested it on another machine with a different starting position and there the scene takes care normally, but if I direct the plane towards the bus, there screen black and left D fs!

I join the files _ 0.asm

well cordially

The SCEN section is not very long in this case, so that should not be the problem here. I will try to test your files on my PC here later.

Arno.... this is the same problem we had in the beta. We found that something else also caused this to happen, but for the life of me I cannot remember what!

Hi,

No, there is not much news about this. It only seems to happen if you animation is too complex (a lot of linked objects or just a SCEN table that is too long). Because CAT adds additional animations you reach a limit somewhere in FS. But a hard limit is not known, it seems to depend on other things as well.

The only think I know is that I never reached it with my own objects. So trying to keep your object as simple as possible will help.

hi arno,

Sad to say but it's pretty simple...

here's what i'm trying... i have a t-hangar and i'm trying to animate the door to open. It works as expected "Pre-cat" . The door is simply a textured box, and there are no other animated pieces.

The conditons i'm adding are to set the door to open on a nav2 freq (1770h)

everything goes thru with no errors and when fs loads it hangs at the 0%

the error mssg points to g3d.dll i think...i also tried restarting my machine and following the same process just to rule out somthing "system side"..no luck

John

Hello all

no worries now folks, i went back to my gmax model and took a good look over things.. everything was in order except i did have 1 object that could be considered "complex" .. it was a small object and in no way the focal point of the scenery. i deleted it and re-built the whole lot..

To my suprise the resulting .mdl file was dramaticly smaller. (your SCEN table comments got me thinking...) ;) i then followed the remaining procedures and
it works as planned...

funny thing is i could "build" it with this object in question and animation would work (no cat) ,, but together no go....

Still, I am pleased with the results...thanks for cat and the help.. you guys rock!
