• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi there,
I'm confusing with my scenery . As you can see the attached photo, the terrain around my airport sometime became blurry . It also let the aircraft and its Virtual cockpit blurred too . I don't know where it started
Does everyone get this situation before ? All comments are welcomed .
Regards

Looks like your mipmap or global texture settings in the menu aren't set high enough.
Hi,
Do I need to convert some textures with mipmaps ? Some of my textures didn't be contained mipmaps since i think they would let the objects go blurred

Is the area that is blurred custom or default scenery?

I noticed that your aircraft seemed blurred too.

Maybe your ram or graphics ram is full, so the fsx loads just the "lighter" mipmap-textures. Your scenery does not contains these, so it is sharp as always.

You need to make sure you don't have any DXT1 textures that are without mipmaps. All DXT1 textures MUST have mipmaps. If it's not in your scenery, it might be a nearby scenery (as limited by your view distance slider).

MSFS can "open" and "read" a DXT1 without mip maps, but it cannot "close" it after reading. As a result, the graphics "pipe" gets clogged while waiting for the "close" operation to complete and surrounding textures go blurry.

This is an intriguing concept.

Where did you come across this piece of information, and have you tested it in FSX?

(I note it was reported in FS9)

Yes, I should have qualified, this is seen in FS9 and I have not tested it in FSX. The description was originally written up by Fr. Bill, I believe. I'll try to find the forum...
