• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.

Hi All
I tried to build in 3dsmax 2012 the jetway in the same way that Adrian Woods Tutorial for Gmax Thanks Adrian:wave: and b.d.w. I did it long time ago with Gmax and its work fine! so.. in 3dsmax when it came to the need for SLIDING JOINT the bone do not have this parameter only rotation mode! OR maybe I don't know how to ..so if someone can help I'll be more then Grateful. For a moment I thought I find a solution with Ik solver and it work in 3dsax but in the sim it didn't slide just rotate and the hood fold nice.
i did a some check with regular bones so in the IK I fined only the rotation mode
Thanks in advance
David

AFIK, you need to add Solver first (I don't have 3dsmax with me now, hope it is right), then sliding joint will be visible.

I had some problems with Max too. So, I worked with Gmax by exporting static jetway to MCX and export as 3ds file. Then I import into Gmax and work as video tutorial. When you import the model, you need to weld all the vertices and do AutoSmooth group again to the polygons. Imported model will be as multiple triangles and all the vertices will be separated.

The only thing I remember about this is it uses the Limb Solver - the only solver Gmax has and the only one FSX supports. Max has several others, so make sure you're using the Limb Solver.

Finely BECK to gmax and it's works fine. best way to convert it from 3dsmax is via MCX to MDL to 3ds it's better then a direct export in any kind that Gmax can import so the old ones wins again ;)
