• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Build 14 of FSX Planner now available (June 2)

Hi all,

Build 14 of FSX Planner is now available. You can download it here: http://www.zbluesoftware.com/clients/FSXPlanner.zip

Here is what has been changed/added/fixed for this version:

* The icon used to draw the jetways has been modified to make it easier to see where the jetway is located and its direction relative to the parking space.

* ILS Beams can now be added to the airport. You need to display the navigation toolbar (View -> Additional Toolbars), then select the ILS Cursor. Then an ILS beam will be added when you click on the airport. After adding the ILS Beam, make sure you assign it to the correct runway.

* The runway propeties display has been rearranged to group all the runway lights together and to allow for VASI on both the left and right side of each end of the runway.

* Approaches can now be fully edited, added or deleted.

* Adjusted the width of the properties windows to be fixed width regardless of screen size. This should help provide enough room for all fields.

* Fixed a bug with the undo/redo system that prevented items that had been undone from updating their displays in the properties window.

* Fixed a bug that caused the undo/redo/history to ignore all changes (therefore making it impossible to undo a change) after opening an xml file that contained more than one airport.

* A bug which prevented an ILS Beam and its asociated Glide Slope and DME from being assigned to the selected runway when the user modified the runway association from within the ILS properties display has been fixed.

Thanks and enjoy!

Me again: under Navigation\Approaches the dialogue box line 4 - To add an approach, click Add Approach button. I can't see that button. Am I missing something here, or this feature is still on "to do" list?

It should be there in build 14. It would be odd if it wasn't as I remember testing that function!

Hmmm . . .

and it is build 14 I'm talking about.

That's very odd. Attached is my Approaches screen.

I doubt that this would have anything to do with it, but can you go to the Preferences dialog, and make sure 'Windows' is selected as the look and feel and then restart FSX Planner to see if that makes a difference?

I checked something else - link in this post points at a *.zip file on another site and the contents of that zip file are the same as previous version:
FSXPlanner.jar date is May 29. at 18:51 in both cases, so actually downloaders don't have build 14.

Hi, dont see where i can add VASI on the left and right side of the runway. just the left or right sides

Oops! It looks like we accidentally uploaded the old build (13) instead of the new one (14).

Sorry about that!

But that would explain the very odd problems that people have been saying they were getting.

So if you downloaded build 14, youll have to download it again.

Again, sorry for the mix up!

I can confirm that my Add Approach button is there now regardless of the colour scheme setting.
Problem with reporting *.bgl file a certain airport is located in persists and additional toolbars under view menu is reacting a bit strange.
I can only see ILS placement button and closing X sign with some text that is somewhat "pressed together" to the left of the closing X. By the look
of this additional toolbar I'm suspecting there is more to the right of X sign and toolbar is supposed to be scalable, which is not in my case.

At the moment the additional toolbar only has the ILS button on it, which is why it looks squeezed together. We'll be adding another four buttons to it which will make it look much better.

I haven't looked into the issue with finding the bgl file for certain airports yet. Hopefully soon though!

Help, About

Hi, Russell

I know you know: add a Menu Help, with a submenu About and we can know, too, which version we are using, please.

Yep - that'll come. Right now the version is displayed in the title bar, such as: FSX Planner [R 14]

Hi- I downloaded the program and gave it a quick go- Looks very good :)

Just a few things: There doesnt appear to be a back function (i.e. Ctrl + Z etc) for movements of the apron (and possibly other features?)....added to this it seemed quite easy to move the apron unintentionally :(
A handy feature in many GIS programs is a 'sticky move tolerance' (since data integrity and coincident boundaries are of the utmost importance). This basically wont move a feature until you move it a certain number of pixels- This makes moving features an obvious and deliberate act and avoids moving features small distances that may not be noticed. A feature such as this may be useful?

Also, some way of placing a vertex/point at a specific coordinate would be useful (although this wouldnt be as important when the ability to open photoreal bgls is added....its just hard to digitise an airport that is accurate in relation to current features at the moment)

Other than that- great stuff....With Fsx Planner i achieved in 10 minutes what took 2 hours hand writing xml :)

No need for handwriting - use the good old AFCAD (Lee Swordy) for FS9 and then just tweak a few lines of the code to make it FSX compatible, till this lovely FS X planner is finished, that is.

All great ideas! We'll look into implementing them.

The undo/redo/history funtionality does not yet include the ability to undo apron movements, or the creation or deletion of objects. However everything else should be undoable. If not please let me know.
