• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX (Can I) Combine multiple scenery BGL files?

I agree with Tim, this is different when it comes to modifying 3rd-party sceneries/add-ons. Let me put it in a different way... without the law being a part of it...

Is it not a part of this site, that disrespect towards others is against the rules? In my opinion, it is disrespectful for others to dissemble others' work without permission (especially in front of everyone else). It could be, at least, be called "unethical" or just plain "rude".
I know that Dick, Arno, and you, Jon, try to catch such behavior before it gets out of control, but I know that is a lot to ask. All 3 of you do have lives outside the realm of this community. So, it is up to the community to help stop this type of behavior.

I hope this helps others understand better, :)

It’s very easy to convert bgl files to mdl in MCX. Library Creator will then compile the collection to a library bgl for you.

To convert the bgls to mdl, use the Batch Converter in Wizards (top toolbar in MCX). You can select all of the target bgls to be done in one go. No need to enter anything in the Operator box, just select your target folder and use the appropriate Writer (FSX, P3Dv2, P3Dv4 or P3Dv4.4). In Library Creator, select New to open a new library, use Add MDL to add all of the newly-created mdl files, then Save Library (where you can determine the name of your new library and its location). You will need to link the appropriate SDK files in both MCX and Library Creator, but this is a once-only job.

Don't worry, some of use don't agree with that and will help you. :)

Thanks Tim and Tom for your help. But I do need to reinforce that despite the folk getting hung up on legal issues I have simply asked for a process. To infringe copyright (at least here in Australia) I would need to reveal the original project, which I haven't, and offer the project up for redistribution whence I have completed my changes, which I do not intend to do. Maybe I should simply have asked about combining multiple object BGL files into a single file without any reference to a project and thus avoided the concerns some have raised.;)
Anyways, as I said, thanks for your help.:)
Cheers
Andrew
