• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can I force Ramp numbers on AI aircraft?

Is there any way to force AI aircraft to use specific ramps?

At present I have three ramps on the side of each end of a runway (Military Ramps). In ADE, the ramps at one end are numbereD 23, 24 25 and the other 26, 27, 28. These six by the way are the only six on the airport that match the ramp radius for the aircraft in the Traffic bgl which puts two aircraft on the ramps. My saved flight puts me on ramp 23. I assumed the AI would take up 24 and 25 but only one takes up 24, the other is placed at 26, the other end of the runway, even though 25 is available at my end.

Any idea how I get the second AI to take up 25?

thanks

ATC tends to put planes where ever it wants, within the limitations you set. You gave it a choice of five places. Numerical order of spots is not a concideration.

One way to get your AI to park in a particular spot would be to assign 24 and 25 a parking code. In ADE, double click the spot and about half way down the window you will see a place for codes. Let's say, MA1. Could be any three digit code. Then in the aircraft cfg file add the line "atc_parking_codes=MA1".

Thanks Bob

actually that has given me an idea. I'll try setting different radii for the parking places in ADE such as 14.25 for the three at R25 and 14.07 for the three at R07 (They are currently 14m)

Then in the AircraftTypes file used by TrafficBuilder for creating this AI model I'll call for 14.25 as the parking radius. That should give ATC only three choices and I'll take one of them :)

That should do it. But, here's some things to think about.

I suppose you could remove the three spots you don't want to use. unless you are going to add other AI. Then you have to play the radius game with them, also. If this is FSX, ATC does not always honor radius. I have seen slightly larger planes spawn in smaller spots if larger spots are not available. I find if I need a plane to be at a particular place, than parking codes work best for me.
