• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Changes I make to parking at an airport not showing when I run FSX-se

I've figured out how to add move and change parking spots at an airport BUT after I finish and save the airport and run the sim the changes are not there. I'm sure i'm missing a step but haven't figured out which step! Help please. This happens in both default and AFCADS I download from FS websites.

Compile and place the bgls in an active scenery area?

Where do you put the AFCAD files you download from FS websites? Or are you talking about ADE edits of those AFCAD files?

ADE edits for default mostly and a few for AFCADS I download and put them in add on scenery; scenery file. I thought that if I compiled the file then save that would work but I get an error msg. stating that "ADE cannot find the shp2vec compiler that is needed to compile...…..
I have the files in my computer but can not get them to the add on scenery file. (just a note i'm not really good at computers) and thanks for your help

If ADE cannot find shp2vec, then you have not filled out this line properly in ADE Settings/Options/Folders:

ade_folders.jpg

Mine is located at C:\FS\FSX SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\Terrain SDK\

but yours will have a different path up to the FSX SDK folder. It should be the same after that.

Hope this helps,

No, unless you have the FSX SDK installed. FSX:SE does not have an SDK so you need to download the P3D v1.4 SDK and use that. it's free and I think there may be a copy on our download section here.

The shp2vec.exe file in my P3Dv4 SDK is in the SDK folder/World/Terrain folder. Perhaps it's the same for the v1.4 SDK, which creates FSX compatible models.

I think I have the paths right but my work when it is saved is not becoming a bgl file its saving as AD4

That will be correct, ADE will generally save as an ad4 file, and you should always work from this ad4 file,
as George said in thread 2, with the ad4 file open you now need to "Compile" this ad4 file to get a bgl file, this bgl file will then need to be placed into an active scenery folder

. I've done that and this is result. I open the file KIWA_ADEX_RSM.ad4 and modify it. I them hit the compile in the upper right which gives me a compile menue box. I hit compile from this box and then save. the result is this. in the ADE projects box there is nothing. In the BGL file box I have files KIWA_ADEX_RSM.ad4 and
KIWA_ADEX_RSM.ad4.bak I tried moving the first of these to the addon scenery folder and opening the airport and TA DA....nothing changed.

Ok! when you hit compile in the box that comes up what is the path that the ad4 file will compile to? you can change this path if you wish
moving an ad4 file to the Addon Scenery folder means nothing to the Sim as the flightsim will not read an ad4 file,
you probably need to compile to the path where the "Addon Scenery/scenery" folder is
or try compiling the ad4 file to your desktop to see if you get 1 or 2 bgl files there if one of them is a cvx.bgl file.............then you can place these 2 files into the Addon Scenery/scenery folder
