Changing sea textures

Hi folks, I've a little question for you...
I'm building a photorealistic scenery that includes a seaport. Usually the color of the sea inside a harbour is quite different from the water outside it.
I made the scenery using apha channels for the sea and the result is shown in the attachment.
As you can see, sea color is the same inside and outside the harbor. How can I make it different, without lose the water effects?
Using landclasses?

Pls help me...

Thanks in advance
Alessandro

Hi Alessandro,

You could try to change the waterclass (similar to landclass but then for the water). But just like the landclass this sets the water type for a square of circa 1.2x1.2 kilometer. So maybe for a small port this is not the best solution.

Another solution could be to place a VTP polygon with the texture you want. I think if you keep the layer low enough (below 3 if I remember correct), this should behave like the water, but I am not 100% sure about that.

Thanks Arno, I'll try the second solution this night (I'll use Ground2k for it).
I hope to send a positive feedback tomorrow.

Bye
Alessandro

mhh, bad news. I created a VTP poligon with layer 3 and below using several textures but nothing appears where it should be. I tried with upper layers and the result is nothing.
I'm using Ground2k4, could I walk other ways?

Thanks
Alessandro

Even when you use a higher layer nothing appears? That is strange, with a higher layer you should be able to see it on top of your current scenery.

Or wait :), did you create this photo scenery with resample? In that case you can not place VTP/LWM elements on top of it. In that case editing the waterclass would be your only option.

For the scenery I used PhotoSceneryMaker, then modified the bitmaps adding the Alpha channel. I don't remember if PSM uses resample.exe.

Is there a tool for manipulate waterclasses?

Tks
Alessandro

Yes, PSM uses resample as far as I know.

I think SBuilder and Ground2k should be able to adjust waterclass (for SBuilder I am sure).
