• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Conversion Problem: MCX A320Neo FSX to FS9

Thanks MCX update.
Unfortunately, the same problems persist after converting the A320-321Neo from FSX to FS9 (see attached images):
1) The engine cones disappear in "fast" mode, so the engines have a hole.
2) After converting, MCX deletes the N1 fast textures.
3) Also, after converting FSX to FS9, the aircraft loses the lights from the attached object editor, especially the taxi and landing lights. The other can be fixed in the aircraft.cfg file.
4) After the conversion, only the opening/closing from the front right door works. Sometimes wheels don't move.

I thought you had found a work around for these missing parts already l, as you reported before. Are you sure you have ModelConverterX configured correctly to load both the modeldef.xml and MakeMDL.parts.xml?

It seems impossible and complicated to convert an A320neo, but I don't know how I managed it. Perhaps it was a combination of good testing and luck.
So I'm keeping the A320Neo that worked as is. Other attempts using the latest version still have problems, especially with the fan and engine cone functionality, which are associated with the N1 Fast texture.
Have you tried an FSX to FS9 conversion A320/21Neo to verify?
 
To be honest, I am not an aircraft developer and when I would convert a model I have no idea how to check if it is fully working. So no, I haven't tested a conversion to FS2004 and tried it out in the simulator. I do not even have the A320 neo model on my system.

I've come across this strange situation with MCX as well. Tom mentions it here. I was modifying a FS2004 aircraft MDL for use in FS2004, and I finally got it to work. But to repeat the steps to convert the next MDL took me days to figure out. I was dealing with material properties and getting glass to be transparent again. When I got the glass transparent, the pilots became invisible. The case of the missing pilots and glass haunted me for 3-4 days. :D

Hello Rick, could you expand on getting glass to be transparent again please?
I am modifying a FS2004 aircraft model for use in FS2004.
On export the cockpit glass is no longer transparent.

I've checked too and seems if the model is made at Gmax+ FS2004 SDK , don't happen.
The way I tried is
1.Material using A.bmp (Use alpha as a transparency)
2.Material using B_T.bmp Set transparency by Opacity setting on Gmax
Both worked on FS2004 and also even after made thru ModelConverterX

So seems this case transparent is done by another way.

What is happening at Ed's case is
1. Model before going thru Model ConverterX (I used the latest developement set) shows correct on
FS2004 and also Model ConvereterX.
2.After made thru Model ConverterX , transparent will be lost on FS2004 and also Model ConverterX

I'm also interested in how it's done.
May be there is a another way to make a transparent parts which is not known .

To make a part transparent, you add a fourth number to the ambient color. 255 is opaque, zero is transparent.

Thank you for the hint Tom, getting there.

I naively thought if I imported a FS9 model into MCX and then exported it back to FS9 it would be the same.

Clearly this is not the case for transparency and also I feel the alpha reflection is different. (slightly less) But I am very picky about that sort of thing so I might be wrong.

Alpha reflection is indeed quite different between FS nine and FSX.

I’m not sure that transparency embedded in the ambient color actually works in FSX? I’m not sure though. I always thought that in FSX transparency was determined only by the alpha channel. Again, not sure though.
