• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Converted vessel FSX to MSFS

Hello All,

I am not a modeller but more a painter and made divers textures for planes and vessels in FSX and P3D and now MSFS.

I have succesfully converted some vessels from FSX MDL to MSFS gLTF files and they are working in MSFS but the way off adding lights by the sim.cfg doesn' t work (for now)
I do have Blender and the model shows the nodes I added in MCX but further I don' t know what to do in Blender,

So I tried it by adding them by MCX,

I made three light points in MCX with their positions and set them to,
point (spotlight didn' t work)
Innercone angle = 20
Outercone angle = 45
Range = 5
Strength = 75

I have lights in the sim but with a very large haze (cone angle?) from the lights on the vessel.
When I opened the gLTF LOD0 the settings where very different and the cone angle is 360,

"name":"node2"},{"translation":[-16.2,22.5,-73.85],"rotation":[1.0,0.0,0.0,0.0],"scale":[1.0,1.0,1.0],"extensions":{"ASOBO_macro_light":{"color":[1.0,0.0,0.0],"cone_angle":360.0,"day_night_cycle":true,"flash_duration":0.0,"flash_frequency":0.0,"flash_phase":0.0,"has_simmetry":true,"intensity":75,"rotation_speed":0.0}},

So the question now is,
Can I change this by hand and will the model react on the made changes, or do I have too make an new model file in MCX.

As I understand things, creating lights in Blender is more for scenery than aircraft. For my aircraft I just create an empty, place it where it want and name it something appropriate `LIGHT_NAV_RED` and then use that in the CFG files in the LIGHTS section. Instead of using `#LocalPosition:x,y,z` you use `#Node:LIGHT_NAV_RED`

Hi OzWookiee,

Thanks for the explanation the way you add the lights, I understand what you writing and also saw it that way in MSFS default FuelTruck, working with the Node:........... in the CFG.
I do now have lights on the vessel based on the ASOBO_macro_light which gave me after some tweaking with the settings a nice glow on the sides off the hull, but will definitly make it the way you describe.

How things are working out on the Grumman Goose G21A Redux II !!
You, Pam, Steven and Butch did a great job on this bird, the style I like for an aircraft.

Well Pam and I just converted the work that Steven, Butch and Pam did for the FSX release and I created all new 3D instruments. Got a few more things to finish for release but have been tied up with external contracts and our first payware release that's coming down the pike: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/announcement-p-40b-tomahawk-wookiees-hanger-big-radials/
