• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

corrupted Textures

Hey,

So.. I tried to export my model from ModelConverterX to P3D V4, but when it's loaded, the textures will look a bit.. ..strange... I made sure, that the texture is a .ddl file, but that didn't fix it either.

Hello Neiggou...

What was used to convert the dds file? Was this the same dds file from your previous thread, where you used an Internet dds file converter? If so,... then I suggest you use either Imagetool or a photo editor with the plugin tool... such as GIMP along with the dds plugin. The GIMP Photo Editor can be downloaded at:

https://www.gimp.org/

GIMP-DDS Plug-in (32-bit or 64-bit “.zip” File). Make sure you get the latest release.

Found: https://code.google.com/archive/p/gimp-dds/downloads
Install: Drive:\Program Files (x86) \GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\plug-ins

How does MCX show the model if you load it again? Looks like a corrupt texture to me.

Habe genau das selbe Problem:

In Prepar3Dv4:
errorTexture.jpg

In ModelConverterX sieht es ganz normal aus:
errorTexture2.jpg

Konvertiert mit Photoshop DDS Plugin und mit Imagetool.exe getestet.
Keine Ahnung warum dieser Fehler auftritt.

Mhh.. So I think, I got it, but now it creates both scenery- and texture folders, but doesn't put the files in it. :/

Here's the message when I want to export it:

Can you try the latest development release? It seems you are still using the older version 1.3.

Yeah. I think that solved the error, but still I'm too dumb to get it right. MCX now exports it, but doesn't show a texture in P3D..

Black object could be due to missing textures, are all needed textures in the right folder?

And which format you used for the textures?

I think I did something wrong. MCX didn't create a texture file, so maybe I exported it in the wrong format or something like that?

Did you use the convert and place object wizard or just export it? If you just export it, you have to convert the texture manually.

Oh yeah! Thanks so much! Now it's working.. I thought, because I saw no files in that folder, it didn't export right, so I tried with normal exporting.. Thanks so much!

Hi everyone... it seems that I have a different version of this problem. Now, after I finally got around to exporting AND placing BGL scenery files, now the textures are somewhat off. When I exported this building, some of the textures probably didn't save correctly, and I still see the actual BUILDING but most of it is black.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1CVBZ5ZQZshmocRK6VY7KgcUatfR_5R6-/view?usp=sharing

Additionally, the positioning and heading is CLOSE but it's a little off. However, I believe I entered in the correct configuration when I exported. Has anyone else had a problem with exact positioning?

How many decimal places did you use for the positioning? Two decimal places is not enough.

If you don't have all the textures in the proper folder, can't you move them in yourself?

Well, I honestly don't mind much about the actual textures. As long as the actual BUILDING is there, and its close enough to it's real-world location that is good enough for me....
