• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Creating a Global AI Shipping Package for FSX

Fantastic - looks great!!!!!! And a very different model which complements the rest very well:)

Hi,

Good to know. If it is too heavy on the fps, choose another model because I included several ones without rotating radar e.g.
I do not mind if you use my Larkspur ferry from FS-shipyards.com that takes care of the Ostend - Ramsgate service until a couple of months ago (it includes the real coastline for both ports, something which was not possible for the Alboran because my Ceuta scenery is apparently incompatible with Bernardo's and he has Algeciras included and I do not).

It is getting even better because I already have the Larkspur sailing in my private version - and it has previously sailed on a lot of other routes including here in Denmark. But I sent you an MP as I think I am missing some textures for the Alboran.
Henrik

Thanks - I will test it out - next 12 hours will be spent on a real life intercontinental flight so plenty of time to play around and create a time table which will not provoke any ships disasters with the already dense traffic I created in the Strait :-)

Hi Robystar
Now everything works perfectly - "Alboran" approaching Algeciras in the middle of a dense traffic :) If you have more ferries around they are welcome! Henrik

The project still continues to grow and the deadline is again postponed... The first new model is "Stena Nautica" ex-"Peder Paars" and "Color Viking", ex-"Stena Invicta", ex-"Niels Klim" which for almost three decades have sailed on different routes in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, the English Channel and between Europe and Africa - the package will contain 6 of the most rececent liveries - the Trasmed livery below fits with Bernardo's Algeciras scenery.

Another new model in the package is "Moby Otta", ex-"Princess of Scandinavia" and ex-"Tor Scandinavia" which at present sails in the Mediterranean, but used ot be on North Sea routes.

Hi,

Beautiful, but just a small question: is this going to be a replacement for all the default shipping? Would be nice if it were.
But then again, I would not know how to get rid of the default ones but by putting the slider to 0. There must be a way but have not found it yet.

Aren't they in Scenery\World\Scenery\trafficBoats.bgl ?

Yes, you can remove the trafficboats.bgl - that is the easy way, but you also loose some of the original cruise traffic which is not too bad. If you put the slider to 0 my ships will also not appear. They need the slider to be above 5%. My prefered solution is to delete the original FSX ships and then allocate their vehicle names in the sim.cfg of some of my ships of corresponding sizes. This way you will not loose out on any traffic and get traffic with some more realistic ships also in areas where my packs are not going to cover.

A couple of weeks has past rapidly but now the project is online on simviation and hopefully in the coming hours also on flightsim and avsim.

It was celebrated on board MSC Sinfonia - the last ship to be included in the package.

Hi Jean-Pierre,
Not that modest - if I had not found your Quebec site and got inspirred I would probably not have started - your ships are great and there are a few tricks on texturing that I still need to learn - e.g. your Abeille Bourbon does not have a night texture???
Next up are the US East Coast - I have done the routes and they go down in the St.Lawrence also so I am testing it with your routes so there should not be any ship disasters.
Best regards
Henrik

I have been made aware of a minor issue of a missing texture. All my ships use standard FSX textures for the wake, but the Alboran sailing from Algeciras to Ceuta does not, as those who have read this thread from the end, will know - but I simply forgot that it had a special texture for the wake when I compiled the package - you can until the patch becomes available download it here

The two textures must be installed in microsoft flightsimulator X / effects / texture folder

Hi Niels,

Downloaded your ship's sceneries. Great, gorgeous, very nice models ( I thought mine were good but yours are better:o).

I was not aware of the Alboran fx missing (guess I still had my own model and traffic file running but I did find some other wakes missing. Wish I could remember what ship it was ( a container ship off the coast of Belgium anyway).
I would like to congratulate you on a very beautiful addon for FSX but I am a bit ashamed that you give me that much credit for only two ships I contributed:eek:.
Can I make a suggestion?
There are some marvellous models of Spanish, English, Japanese, Norwegian, Dutch and German Navy vessels available that I also have on my FSX (see www.fs-shipyards.com of BASys), some static (aircraft carriers) and some that follow a route. And on AVSIM.RU there are some very nice models (including traffic files) of Russian Navy vessels.
I think it would be a welcome addition to your world scenery as well if you are able to contact the makers and ask them if you can use them.
If I were them, I would be delighted to have them incorporated in such a nice world scenery.
Just a thought:).

Hi Roby,

I think the container ship wake texture you refer to must be related to the hyundai class container ship as I moved the centerpoint of the mdl time and then in the last moment decided to leave the new mdl out to keep the installation instruction simple but forgot to change the effect back to the old one... The better solution is to install the new mdl files as they are less prone to collisions than the old one as the centerpoint has been moved to the stern of the ship.

Replace all content in the simobjects / boats / AI_Hyundai_Container folder with this

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/to99otx80woy3i4/Y49HoQ71xV

An official patch will be uploaded soon... now there are 1600 pairs of eyes checking so I will wait a moment before releasing it and then take everything in one go.

Regards to the other ships... They already sail my own fsx oceans... routes are done, what I miss is permissions - but I will look into it for the next round and if the creators should happen to read these lines don't hesitate to speak up :-)

God aften Niels,

Jeg kan egge decompile some of your mediterranean traffic files with AIBTC (just wanted to see the routes in Google Earth)!
All the others I made myself can be decompiled.
How come? Any inkling? And is there a means to decompile them?
Tak,

Roby

Hi Roby,
I can't decompile them either.......... No clue why... But I can provide you the base files... I will send you an mp later or tomorrow. For the moment here are a few screenshots from New York with the Drzewiecki design scenery as backdrop . I just uploaded the routes for the US East Coast from Fort Lauderdale to the St.Lawrence River, where they should also fit with the work of Jean-Pierre (at least his files can be decompiled which was of course a great help)

The new routes are available on simviation from today and should be on avsim and flightsim later also.
