• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Creating custom aerial cgl file using QGIS and MSFS SDK

Hi,

I used to create airports in P3D. After few years I`d like to start again with MSFS scenery. It is completly different then P3D and I`d like to start from scratch.
What I`d like to do first is creating custom aerial satellite imagery for an airport. I know I need Qgis tools and some basic SDK knowledge.
I need help and like to ask where and how to start. I couldn`t find any specific tutorial how to make CGL file. If there is any tutorial in pdf or yt link
please let me know. Also any other help is welcomed ;)

This is creating PNG but how to compile it to CGL one file ? It`s not shown...
Of course
When compiled (build all) you will obtain the .cgl (as well as all the other files to make the Package work)

So I need to make project in SDK MSFS and add this. This guy took it from google earth. How can I take high resolution imagery using QGIS ? I know it`s possible. I`d like to use Bing satellite imagery then rework it in PS and compile. If I download imagery google ( or Bing if possible ) it will also cut it into png files and I need to add it to project ? I will have to add reworked imagery into QGIS I quess. I don`t know if there is other tutorial how to download via QGIS and process it into CGL using SDK. I don`t know to much so I will have to make it step by step untill CGL ready to go.

I couldn`t find any specific tutorial how to make CGL file.

Sucesfully following this tutorial I`ve just made custom aerial imagery :) This is before and after. Last picture is final result without any background mismatch of taxiways, aprons, runway edges and colour adjustment :
