• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Cross country air race AI

I am toying with the idea of replicating a vintage era cross counrtry air race for AI. The start would be LAX to KDCA flying in 500-700nm legs. Each leg would start on a different day of the week.

For the flight plan, leaving out the non-pertinent info:

6:00,16:00, KLAS, 6:00,16:00, KDEN, 6:00,16:00, KOMA, 6:00,16:00, KMDW, 6:00,16:00, KPIT, 6:00,16:00, KDCA, 6:00,16:00, KLAX (the times are arbitrary for the sake of discussion)

AI Flight Planner (v2.1.14) is giving me an Validation Report Error of "Leg duration too long. Flight unable to return within repeat period" I don't care about the KDCA-LAX leg. With this reported "error", will it prevent the flight plan from ever being flown?

Which aircraft?

The flight plan must return to the origin airport, and if the aircraft cannot make the KDCA-KLAX leg in time, the flight plan is in error.

You are indicating aircraft flying 10 hours per day - 500 to 700 nm would would be 70 knots cruise at the fastest. That would require you allow 29 hours flying time for the return KDCA-KLAX leg.

I would suggest setting the FP to fly KMDW-KPIT-KDCA the same day, and that would give you two days to get the planes back to KLAX.

BTW - KPIT is a 'relatively' new airport - opening in 1952 - four months before I was born. The vintage era airport would have been KAGC.

And of course the vintage era airport for Denver was Stapleton.

If you are using FS2004 - Tom Gibson's California Classics site has links to some very good vintage scenery - http://www.calclassic.com/

So, you're saying the plane HAS to be able to make it back or the flight will not be generated. Thanks!
