• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 CYWG James Richardson International Airport - Winnipeg Manitoba Canada

Btw. can we do anything, that I can do a little financial donation to you, once winnipeg gets finished? I'd really like to give you a little profit from your stunning work, you're doing on that wonderful Scenery.

I appreciate the gesture Basil but that won't be necessary.
Greg

A very quick update. The terminal building is now about 90% finished with the addition of all the lower level baggage and ground handling service bays and doors. Still lots to do though. I need to add a bunch of traffic signs, lamp posts and do the night textures, which will be a challenge and a big job. Since my last post, I've also added the jet blast fence that skirts the commuter apron. Finally, a few shots of some of the hotels, Greyhound bus terminal and the 60s era control tower that was attached to the old terminal (which has been demolished and the site will be a new aviation museum at some point in the future). Hopefully I finish this project before that gets built so I don't have to model it!!

Just stunningly beautiful. Still can't believe that this is still going to be a Freeware Product... texturing of all those beautiful Buildings look amazing and allmost better than all I have seen before...
even better than FSDT or AEROSOFT or FLYTAMPA's Montreal Trudeau...i love the Details in those Textures...

Your Winnipeg Scenery will be an awesome addition in use with Flytampa's Montreal... and Jon Gabbert's Vancouver Scenery... can't wait to fly in and out of Winnipeg.
Flying between Montreal, Winnipeg, Buffalo and Vancouver, is now becoming very interesting and exciting!

The only thing missing by now, would be an updated Toronto Pearson Scenery... since the last one built for FS2004 is really outdated by today's Standards... Hopefully there will be somebody to develop that.
Btw. Is there any Chance for you, to built the old Gimli Airstrip, which is located about 25 Miles out of Winnipeg, where Air Canada's 767-200 "Gimli Glider" Flight 143 landed on 23 July 1983 ?

From Winnipeg, I can assure you Gimli is farther than 25 miles out of Winnipeg......more than double that...For whatever it's worth to you Greg, we are already working on in real life preliminary design for terminal expansion which will be to the east of the terminal as it stands today where Gates 2 and 3 are. There will be an apron expansion at that area as well which I believe will be large enough for several 737/A320 sized aircraft to park. It's been a couple weeks since I saw the plans but it looked like about 6-8 aircraft were plugged into the AutoCAD. Also you can expect a new parallel runway 13/31 to be built which was a part of the original master plan of a new terminal which was proposed back in the late 90's if I remember correctly. It will be a go which will run very very close to where Brookside Cemetery is. These projects are a go but of course will be some time before they see light of day. Anyway, just thought I would share for whatever it's worth.

Apparently another movie is in the works to feature the "Gimli Glider". Hard to believe that was 35 years ago. At one time I contemplated doing a scenery for Gimili and even went out in 2008 and extensively photographed what is left of the airfield. I was really surprised to see so many RCAF era buildings still standing - way more than its identical twin at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, which remains an operational RCAF base/station. I really doubt I will get around to making a scenery for the airfield.

Sounds like the expansion outlined in the master plan is very significant - as big as the changes to CYYC at least as far as adding another runway. I better be done this project before any of that gets underway! Nonetheless, I am keen to see the plan if you can share a link if it is online.

Cheers
Greg

I better be done this project before any of that gets underway!

Or you may include all those things...:D for the Scenery to be up to date on it's release. Even if that requires more time, effort, patience and work to do... take your time for it... would be nice if you gave it a go...

Basil, I think you misunderstand. The changes mentioned are in a master plan and not yet built.

Correct, both impossible as while we know where the runway will be, we don't know the length of it nor do we have information yet on taxiways at this point. For the terminal expansion and apron, as we all know, plans get tweaks so while I do know which way they are going, I expect there will be some tweaks along the way. Figure 3-1 is what they are going towards right now and you can get an idea also on page 42 Figure 4-5. We just finished supplying new LED highmast lighting for the apron where the old terminal used to exist and also the de-icing pads so this is just the beginning of more changes. CYWG is growing well and while I don't expect us to get anything close to TATL other than Westjet to Gatwick seasonally unless someone surprises me, I expect we are going to see more frequencies to what we have across Canada and in some cases with slightly bigger equipment.
