• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

designated runways

Gday everyone and I hope someone can help me

I am currently using AIFP to manage all my ai aircraft on my custom airport.
the issue I have is the following:-

I have 2 runways on my custom airport,
1 water and 1 Tarmac
ai aircraft work fine however I have planes with floats landing on tarmac and vice versa.
Is it possible to edit the flight plans created by AIFP to assign certain runways to certain planes and also parking bays.

This will avoid planes with wheels trying to park in a water bay and take off from a water runway and planes with floats to use the correct runways and parking bays

thanks in advance

Kevin

AI aircraft, unfortunately, can not be runway specific unless you close runways and that doesn't always succeed also..

Many years ago, Aerosoft developed an imaginary add-on airport called "Andras Field" which had a hard runway, a water park AND a glider field. They split it into 2 airfields - EAFS and EAFW to separate the water activities off from the remaining areas. I played with it for a while because it allowed me to use AI aircraft into and out of both the main airfield and the water park. There were some interesting bits of scenery as well - I remember being able to taxi a float aircraft out of the water and up a ramp to dry land.
I used it for a while but discontinued its use as it had a few problems that I could not overcome.

Thanks for that. I did have the idea of having back to back airports to overcome that issue but was hoping can all be done under one ICAO. . I think I will go down the road of your suggestion

Raymk i had a look at that andras field, its park and runways it looks like a good concept. but it's not around anymore. the main website is gone.

Kevin,
yes there were some interesting concepts about using Andras Field including users being able to purchase 'plots of land' and get special benefits from that. I imagine that not enough users bought into that and it petered out.

It was a pity that various design features were not up to scratch - I had to spend a whole lot of time sorting out the taxiways and parking - a lot of taxiways went thru parking spots. When using the ADE checking feature, loads of errors were reported - but it was interesting.

Looked like it had plenty of potential... and I certainly like the idea of buying your own plot and hangar.... Hopefully one day, some group may revamp the idea of a community AirPark....
I see it is still available to purchase but I presume the community aspect of the park is gone.
Havent played with ADE as yet... still working through SDK in MSFS2020 it is certainly addictive...Need to get off airport design and get back to working on my Sim.... These things take time I spose

Do the two sets of planes have unique parking codes (or other distinguishing feature that affects parking such as wingspan)? If not, you are out of luck, as others have stated. If they had unique codes, the solution is still convoluted. You would have to create two separate taxi networks, making sure that where taxi links overlap, one link is invisible. One set of parking spots would use taxi network A and other other set of parking spots would use taxi network B. This "solution" was proposed here long ago, but I failed to find that thread. Maybe you could have more success in finding it..

Jay,

I agree that parking codes could technically be a solution but that involves possibly having 2 copies of individual aircraft and then making sure that you program your AI to suit each aircraft.

To get the correct aircraft types [wheels vs. floats] landing on the correct surface, I cannot see any option other than having 2 co-located airports.

You also would have to make sure that the two runways are parallel, so they would be open at the same time.
