• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I've probably seen worse descriptions than, "a red beacon someone put on Reddit" and even though we don't get as much traffic as Reddit, there are still lots of people, developing lots of things, for lots of simulators and the only thing truly universal, is the joy we share doing it.

I mean the reddit part it not important I just mentioned that there is a red beacon light I tried but it's not a real light so it doesnt load the light if you go far,
My question is if you know the name for the white light scenery object. I'm struggling to add that to my buildings bc I can't find it. Second question was if there is a red beacon light in the SDK I can use

Ok, we can see from the level of security and tracking integration required to view the link, you must be referring to "MSFS," also known as, "FS2020."

Look at the top of the page. It's really not an excuse to post on a site in a different language when Google will happily translate all the requested information to make everything easier for everyone. This site serves approximately 8 different flight simulators and I am very proficient in one of them, not yours.

Hi,

It does indeed help to clarify which simulator you are developing for, as we have people developing for FSX, P3D and MSFS here.

Are you looking to add a light that will light your object (e.g. so that you see the glow of the light) or do you want to just add a visible red light (e.g. like an obstruction light on a big building that should be seen from further away)?

It would also help to know if you made the object yourself, as then it is easier in general to add things.

Hi Arno :),
I need both lights because I'm rebuilding my city with google 3d models.
Although one of the buildings was made for a friend this one (not in mi city) https://flightsim.to/file/226/emley-moor-trasmitter so we want to add lights like the second one you mentioned, we tried with glow lights but are not working correctly if you go far.
As far as I know nobody found working lights yet in the SDK so a method to make them in blender would be helpful also.

Hi,

The light emitter can indeed relatively easily be added in the glTF file or with Blender.

For the second type I'm not 100% sure yet, what I have read is that you need to add some geometry for the light with an emmissive texture. But I haven't tried that myself yet.

Watching. It should be easy, Im surprised there is no solution around. Just a flashing red dot light is all I'm asking for :)

Adding lights is supported in Blender now and is very easy to get working. Follow this tutorial and let us know how you get along:

Here's a screenshot of some settings that were working for me:

those are the ones i tried they look great from a short distance maybe it is helpful for others reading this thread https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zsnYSqgXSquZJCDo8FGmvsRETJj-sD0k/view?usp=sharing
Ca you actually share the Blender project file for these? I want to do the blinking variants on those, if possible.
One thing I found out is that if I scale it 2x in the sim - it disappears farther. It does look ridicullous up close, like a large red ball, but from distance it's better. I wonder if the size of the light emitting object is proportional to the visible distance. Then it's worth trying to do the cluster (for the roofs for example) of 4 objects and see if it affects the distance.

Have you watched the video below, didn't realize this video existed when I posted the previous reply. Not sure how far away this method works but seems worth a try. If you still want me to share a .blend file let me know.

Oh boy, 5 lights and a sphere to fo a work of 1 light, and day/night doesn't work... Not very optimal... Looks ugly at daytime. Need to test the distance. If it's the only choice, I'll take it...

Interesting, I will give a try to have external lights poining into the beacon, although I am not 100% convinced it is the optimal way. For the me, the optimal way how beacon lights over the Wind turbines lighting at night. The same for some 3rd party airports, hence I am pretty there is another way to do this.
