DID SP1 Change Something?

Before installing SP1

Using FSDS v3, I created scenery objects, saved them as scenery.mdl files and then using Library Creator, created a library containing these objects. The library file would be saved in the FSX addon scenery\scenery folder.

Then I would boot FSX and load FSX Object Placer tool to place these objects. The library objects I added would show up at the top of the list with the non-friendly guid names. Other than having non-friendly names the whole process worked fine.

Now after installing SP1, the object libraries don't show up. Looking at the FSX Object Placer window, there is a good number of objects with non-friendly names but they're all trees or other types of vegetation. None of my library objects.

Did SP1 change something or am I overlooking something. Hope I'm explaining this so it will be understood. Basically, Object Placer doesn't see my libraries after installing SP1.

Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Doc,

In SP1 MS has also added some objects without friendly names, so probably your objects are just hidden between the ones from MS. In Library Creator XML you should be able to see which GUID is used, so that you can find your own ones easier.

Hmmm. . . I've just checked and I also cannot find my library objects listed. Not hidden between default GUID's - just nowhere to be found. I believe my install of FSX SDK SP1 and FSX SP1 are good as all else seems to be functioning properly.

Any other suggestion?

I would have to check it with one of my own libraries. Once I have done that I will report back here :).

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the the replies.

Forgot to mention that I also had checked through the new objects one by one and didn't find any of my library objects among the newly added objects.

Hi,

Just tried it with one of my libraries and the objects still appear fine. Just remember that in the list an additional 0 is added to the GUID, so it might look like the objects are not where you expect them :).

Hi Arno,

Well, that was it. I called myself checking for that very thing. Guess I didn't check close enough. Thanks Arno.
