• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Disappearing autogen, could the ortho LOD be too high?

I've been tinkering with FS Earth Tiles and did a 15-minute grid at level 1, which is 1 meter per pixel. It looked ok (and didn't strip my autogen), so I tried compiling an adjacent section at level 0, which is .5 meter per pixel. Looked better, but the trees and buildings disappeared. Got me to thinking that whenever I have done very high-resolution ortho around airports the autogen disappears around it, and I'm wondering if at a certain resolution the autogen disappears within that LOD square.

Could I be on to something, or is there another problem?

Hi,

Did you place the AGN files that match the photoreal scenery in the texture folder that belong to the photoreal scenery in both cases?

Hi,

Hello Arno. Yes, I simply deleted the BGL files in the /Scenery folder and left the /Texture folder as-is. The issue didn't start until I tried the higher resolution photoreal scenery, plus the airport areas around high-resolution scenery I made a year or two ago had the similar issue.

Did you make custom autogen for the photoreal? The normal landclass autogen never shows over photoreal.

I don't think there is a way to exclude autogen based on resolution or so.

Autogen was made with Scenproc last year and worked fine until I deleted the old scenery and moved in the new. Thinking it through... Could there be something in the FS Earth Tiles process, like an INF setting that bumps the autogen? I'm not very familiar with the FSET process.

Humm, that's weird. You should be able to swap the files and keep the autogen. Are there blend or water masks in the photoreal?

Realized I had put a couple of the new 15-minute grid BGLs in the wrong folder. I had conflicting sceneries.
