• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.

FS2004 DSDG "City Center" Las Vegas

Nice!
I'm curious, do you "handpaint" the textures for the buildings or do you use them from another source? Some of those buildings really do look the part!

A mix of multiple techniques, mostly depends on the shape of the building.
Every time I start searching on Internet every photo of the building, then I start to correct perspective crop images adjust contrast and add some reflections. But sometimes is very difficult to find images that are usable as texture so I start to crop parts of various images and I create the texture like a puzzle.

In some cases, when the building is not flat, like Vdara, Wynn & Encore the processes is longer because it is impossible to flatten a photo of a curved shaped building, so texture like Vdara, Wynn and Encore are 100% custom made, I use gimp for all the editing.

There are other cases that I have to hand paint buildings, like Palazzo, at the time I modeled it the building was not finished, so I had to use only pieces of photos and create all the texture by hand.

Unfortunately I don't live in Vegas so I can't take photos by myself, for example for the Milan scenery I have passed a lot of days around the city with my camera to take bad photos but great textures :)

Hey all!!
There are some news about the development of "City Center", first of all it is obvious that the name of the scenery and this thread is no more exact... I've started with City Center, but, as you have seen the development is continued with some other parts of the city, so the scenery name will change to "Las Vegas 2013".

Secondly, last week I have started to redesign the hotels already included with FS2004 default scenery, why? because level of detail of default scenery is too poor if compared with mine...
This will sure take more time do develop the city, scenery will be limited only to the strip, and a couple of hotels located south of the airport.
Last news is about the release modality, probably the scenery will be payware, the effort put into develop all the buildings is too high to be only for fun.

Hope this will not have to much impact on your excitement ;).

Ok, now some progress:

Cosmopolitan is now entirely textured:

First of revamped building, Montecarlo, (Casino is not fully textured and modeled):

Last developed building is MGM Grand:

See you at next update!

Very cool any chance you will offer the Payware version for FSX I would buy :)

Looks great two requests Hard Rock Hotel and Casino off Paradise Rd and I would love it if you could model the LV Monorail.

Sean

Two shots of the LV Monorail it would be great to have it in the scanery.

Thanks for the infos :)

The scenery, when out, will have all the hotels built before the release, but will be maintained updated in the case some buildings will be demolished/rebuild or built from scratch.

Now I am in the stage that I can't promise release dates or features, I admit I don't have a clear road map from here to the release, but for sure I can promise that the scenery will not take ages ;)

Weekly update.

Texturing started on Mandalay/Luxor, added Luxor Pyramid and Towers and some minor buildings/parkings:

Fire Station, and Golf Club.
