• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Editing a default airport flatten.

Hi chaps.

Not sure if this is the correct section to post this in but there goes...

I'm having trouble with the default airport flatten in my project and basically I want to get rid of it. I have located the correct FLxxxxxx.bgl but simply don't know how to edit it?

Does anyone know how to do this? Is it possible?

Thanks,
Paul.

Hi,

With Sbuilder create a New empty project and append to it the FLxxxx.BGL file. Then select ,with the mouse, the flatten you want to dispose off and delete it. Then Select everything and compile to get a new BGL file without the referred to flatten.

Luis:
Do you then use the new file to replace the default flatten file? Or will it have the same effect if placed in Addon scenery without de-activating the default file?

I think you would have to use that new BGL file to replace the default one. Using them together would still leave the flatten there that you try to remove.

Thanks, Arno.
I agree that seems to be the solution. I removed the default flatten from MHCA (Catacamas Honduras) as it was one of those situations where the airport appeared inside a "volcano" due to misplacement. The mesh returned to the proper shape, and the airport can now be relocated to its proper place.
I have always been dubious about replacing default bgls for scenery that will be distributed, but sometimes perhaps that is the only solution. Maybe in the future Microsoft will give us the ability to exclude a default flatten.

Hi everybody,

I would like to do the same thing as Paul and will probably use Sbuilder to remove the default flatten after reading Luis post. But how do you proceed to located the correct FLxxxxxx.bgl ? What tool should I use ?

Thanks in advance,
