• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I hope this will not affect to the performance since the ground poly in FS9 is quite difficult to make.
I switched to Photoscenery in FSX. It is much easier.

There will not be a performance hit, and FS9 ground polys are easier than FSX...

Ok so so far you have seen Darrens work, now my turn.
The imagery I have purchased for Dublin is fantastic quality (20cm/pixel). For the past few weeks I have been deleting all clutter, planes, lines etc and have aligned it perfectly with the GenX Imagery. The good thing about this is that if you are using UltimateTerrain Europe the vehicle traffic will follow the Eiresim Dublin perfectly.

Anyways heres a few pics...

Sweet baby jesus, that's some superb quality imagery! Could you share the provider? How much was it?

Looks nice but can you tell me how you didn't get those lines to show up?

The line problem is fixed by editing the UVW points of each texture which is a task, especially for a poly that has 416 1024x1024 textures!

However, you could map the textures, then resize them to 1022x1022 in the textures used in the actual scenery folder.

So you are saying, if I just resize the files I have now to 1022 with no other changes, that will fix it? Easy as that? Good.

No, FSX will only accept certain texture sizes, 256, 512, 1024 etc.

In the UVW Unwrap, Click Edit, change each corner to 0.999 instead of 1.000, bottom left of the dialogue.

No.

In my EDRJ scenery, i have textures at various sizes.. even a 115x230 which was my taxiway line texture, that worked just fine! then when i tested it in FSX... looked the same.

Please explain Darren why my DXT and BMP textured models show black when using non conforming texture sizes.

Very few game engines can handle non power of 2 textures... Odd indeed.

The ground poly of my EDRJ, the aerial imagery has 2 1024x2048 textures.

There are some default FS9 textures using 256x512 and I think I have eve seen a 128x256.

I dont know but I am only going by what I have experianced and whitnessed myself

Yes - that's what the textures are supposed to be using. You can mix the sizes 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048.... but you cannot use 132x742 (As an example)
