• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Elevators in land base structures

I feel I need to apologize in advance for another "crazy post". But I have these ideas that keep popping up to make my "boating experience" thru the water canal system more realistic.

I kind of remember seeing this a while back and had forgotten about it. But In my search recently for all sorts of other things relating to scenery design I found it again. Its the elevators on carrier ship.

I suspect that if elevators can be designed into a ship, it can also be put into a land base structure. The question that I have concerns the floor of the elevator. I suspect that it has to be made up of a texture similar to elevated helicopter pads, in order for the planes to not drop thru. Would it be possible to have the floor made up of a "waterclass" texture to support a boat instead?

I am still very new at this terrain design and I know that people would tell me to go read and I would probably find my answer. But I am always so overwhelmed with trying to understand what I am reading because the language and words being use are not common language, but "designer" language. Also there is so much information out there on all sorts of things and I have problem sifting thru it all to find what I am looking for.

All I am looking for here is a "yes it is possible" on "no it is not possible" (like the answer I got for adding lines in GPS)

If it is possible, I would appreciate a "nudge" in the right direction to find out how to do it. But if it's not, then I can spend my time on something that can be done.

Another thing. With all of these different programs out there for scenery and terrain design, it would be nice to know If I have the right one for the job. So which program would I need to fix up terrain and water surface?
