• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 ENBH - Haakonsvern Royal Norwegian navy heliport

Hello.

I would like to show you my latest project, ENBH Haakonsvern Royal Norwegian navy heliport. In a way a smaller project than the previous ones, but still a larger one due to the implementation of newly experienced detailing possibilities. The heliport itself contains a number of custom created objects made in Sketchup, while also using a lot of the asobo/microsoft general available assets. The surrounding naval base also contains some custom made objects while mostly being based off of generic objects provided by asobo.

A note: the naval base is greatly enhanced by adding the GAIST-ships as statics. I have not made this feature available due to the possible interest conflict with the GAIST creators (permission pending), but it is possible. Same goes for Seafront-core assets though a little lacking on good quality navy objects.

A great thanks must be given to this community, especially GaryGB for providing constant feedback and suggestions, and also arno for providing the great tool MCX.

The file can be downloaded from Flightsim.to https://flightsim.to/file/95711/enbh-haakonsvern-royal-norwegian-navy-heliport, and as always - all constructive feedback are welcome.

Thanks for the honorable mention, Vetle. :)

Very nice work at ENBH, with outstanding attention to detail, and blended well into the MSFS core scenery assets.

Looks great in both MSFS 2020 and 2024.

I especially liked the non-collision hangar, so I can go inside and admire the details.

I'm wondering if we may also soon see the waterfront hangar / boathouse down the hill textured inside too ?

Hmmm... that back interior wall looks like a good place for a door ...leading to a tunnel ...leading to the Heliport above.

BTW: IIUC, this might fit into that channel ?

Keep up the great work. :wizard:

Thanks for the comment :) I could certainly texture the inside of the drydock as well. I just didn't think anybody would be interested in looking at boat hangars 😁

Here at FSDEV, there seem to be only a few folks who actually use FS to fly (OOPs ...I used the "F"-word at FSDEV again).

There is way too many objects in MSFS that are collide-able; this is not disabled when I configure the sim to 'ignore' collisions.

I keep getting 'hung up' on objects when I'm inspecting and admiring scenery on the ground, and then I must slew to get loose.

So, I'm having some fun at ENBH, dropping through rooftops and flying through walls to see what's inside using the Astro One.

I have hovered up from the ENBH Helipad over to the "dry-dock", dropped through its roof, and seen that it already has rock walls.

Seeing lighting and metal water inlet base / walls would be an interesting enhancement, but not crucial if your time / energy is limited.

As a "Helo Enthusiast", in between scenery projects, you might enjoy this aircraft which inspired the Astro One:

Thanks for your comment, and sorry for the late reply, Gary... I don't know why, but I keep missing several replies to my posts. Cannot find any issues in my profile settings.

Anyways; With your specified interest I will certainly look into following up your advice in the future. :) I am currently working on a project which will represent a temporary HEMS-base in Kirkenes where I have pictures of the inside. I could certainly consider adding the inside to a certain detail. However one of the considerations I am facing with all my projects is the "realistic" approach. Since I am not sufficient in making sceneries which are dynamic to the environment/season I need to consider having hangars closed or open at alle times. With the climate in Norway I have settled on the approach to always keep my hangars closed as they will not be opened when the crew is flying at night and/or during severe weather. I do however see that adding some interior to the ENLX project - as an example - would enhance the scenery somewhat since it is possible to see the inside from outside. So if such factors are present I will certainly consider adding interior.

Another factor; I am certainly able to create ok-looking building insides, but I lack good library models of furniture and other such detail. I could try to add Sketchup-models from the workshop to the model, but too many of them are lacking in quality which needs to be fixed - so I have not really bothered spending the time correcting their errors. I hope someone may add a sort of library which can be used directly within msfs2020/2024 at some point.
