• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I import mdl file and it displays correctly and shows related dds texture files., when I try to export to scenery to create a library bgl it gives me the following error:

An error occured during exporting H:\Scenery Design\Scenery\BaggageCart1.bgl from object
Error:
The directory name is invalid.

I have rechecked all my paths etc and all are fine.. exporting to the same directory as the scenery where the mdl file resides - even tried editing mdl name and assigning new GUID but same result
it starts writing the file then in the bottom left window it shows ATT COR CUR COR then writing BGLX , with the revolving circle any ideas
running Win 10 and have the latest download of MCX 1.40.0f4ac930 DEV 11/30/18

thanks

Hi,

Can you show the log messages around the error? That might give me an idea where the error happens.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

This error comes when trying to send another error. Just before your temp folder was retrieved, sounds like that might be set to a weird value.

But this is not an export error. Probably you got an error screen with the export error in there and the directory error happened when you tried to send that error.

I saw some error reports from you. They all point to issues with the temp folder. Did you setup your user folder in a special way?

Normally the temp folder would be c:\users\youruser\local\temp

assume you meant c:\users]\youruser\appdata\local\temp yes I have it set that way. also a USERTEMP folder within the scenery folder I am trying to import and compile to--

Have you really set them to H:Usertemp, I would expect H:\Usertemp (with a slash)?

yes-- with the slash this all started happening after replacing battery in computer- I am going to check the BIOS to see if something is ahrye (sp)

Went back and verified-- and 2 of the TMP files were without the "\" don't know if this occurred after battery change but anyway, changed them to include the "|" wne t back and tried to export scenery and all worked fine !!!! Hooray !
thanks for having me re-check this. obviously the invalid directory would be the result of this--
thanks again for the time and suggestion- another happy camper--
