• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Im in need of some help. I cant get the glass materials to show up in the sim. I used the formula for the glass from Bill and it worked great on other projects but nothing shows up on the 123. I even copied a piece of glass from a project and used that material but when I load it up in the sim theres nothing there.

Just some questions things that come into my mind:
- Have you chanced any shared settings inside the sim / on your graphic_card
- Did you install a new video_card_driver in your operatings system lately?
>>
- Has your C-123K project files gotten corrupted in any way?
- Do your glass-textures have the right format for the targeted flightsim?
>>
- Have you checked the ..\..\filepaths to your textures in this project?
- Is there a way to see how the glass-texture-filepaths are coded into your project?
- Do you get errors when exporting the project into flightsim?
>>
- How do your new glass-textures show up in Arno's ModelconvertorX screen?

I used the formula for the glass from Bill and it worked great on other projects but nothing shows up on the 123.
- Which glass-formulas are you referring too (since i'm not yet familiar with glass-textures at the moment)?
- What modeling program and other tools are you using, to get your model into the sim?

-Using the P3D v4 sdk
- Not sure what the issue is as I just made part of an airport scenery and used the same material on building glass and it worked flawlessly.
- Using 3ds max with P3D plugins to export
- Tried different materials and turning the opacity up to no affect.

Just a thought: if you're doing Export Selection to FSX or P3D in Max, make sure the glass objects are included in the selection.

Messing with the alpha if I make it just white I get extreme reflection like chrome any other adjustment other than white makes the windows invisible. Here are my material settings anyone see any issue?

Impressive looking model.

I am only using Gmax & the FSX SDK but some of the parameters are the same, in the specular highlights tab I set both Specular Level & Glossiness to 80 & do not include a Specular Level map, in the special functionality tab your reflection scale & specular map power scale look very high, try reducing the reflection scale to 60 & the specular map power scale to 50, also I only select blend enviroment by inverse of diffuse alpha & blend diffuse by diffuse alpha, in the the enhanced parameters tab I don't select Z-Write Alpha but select No shadow. It also appears that you have no fresnel ramp map texture applied & you will need to include a copy of this texture in your aircraft texture folder, I also only select specular for this.

I find Arno's MCX useful for checking texture settings of other aircraft models & checking how the textures have been produced, looking at the Diffuse+alpha & Specular+alpha relationship.

I hope this is of some help to you.
