• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

Anyone know what the FE.dll in the Modules folder does, My FS2004 keeps crashing after around 5 - 10 minutes and FE.dll is always the cause.

Thanks

Stevo ;)

Which version of windows are u using? Did you download or install any new scenery or aircrafts right before this started? Also check if the FE.dll is still in the modules folder.

Hi

No, havent installed any new scenery, did install a new aircraft though.

Come to think of it, I've been using that aircraft every time I've started FS, mmm. I'll try another aircraft see if it happens again.

Just make sure you completly restart fs when changing aircraft. If the problem goes away, try that aircraft again. If it happens again, you know its something with the aircraft. Just curious, which aircraft did you download?

HI

Well it wasnt the Aircraft, I started from different locations in diferrent Aircraft, I still got the crash.???

Maybe a reinstall is in order?

Stevo ;)

Hi Stevo,

Are you sure it is not some sort of addon aircraft you are using that causes this problem? In 99.9% of crashes like this, some fault in an addon is the reason of the crash. I doubt reinstalling everything will help, but if you have a lot of time, you can always try :).

just check to see if fe.dll file is in the modudles folder. it might be possible i got deleted. i read somewhere that if you use a some programs to get rid of spyware that might be on your hard drive that it can erase the fe.dll file by thinking its a trojan virus. but id check to make sure its still there first before re-installing. i could even email you the file if you like. Also check se if any files are acting up as arno mentioned above. its starnge to get this problem all of a sudden without the cause not being associated with a downloaded file or missing fe.dll file.

Hi,

I thought it may be something in the scenery i'm building, but I've removed it and the crash still occurs. Even from different locations in the world.

FE.dll is in the modules folder, I think i'll just reinstall. My Winxp needs reinstalling anyway it hasnt been done for over a year and is starting to grind to a halt. Maybe its something to do with that. Although no other games crash!!

Thanks for your help though

Stevo ;)

the other thing i saw was that it could be also something with the shortcut for f9s but i cant remember where i saw it and what the fix was. but if the file is there and its not a scenery or aircraft problem then i really dont know since its only happening in fs9.
