• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

First steps in GMAX with FS2004 gamepack

Hello guys!
While resting after finally creating Slovenija 2004 scenery, which was made in FSDS2.x for FS2002&2004, I have decided to learn gmax. I tried MS tutorial for its house which nicely exported using those coordinates, but when I try to put the house somewhere in Slovenija, nothing shows. I also created simple cube (5x5x5m), put some material on it (without textures) but I still can't see my object.
In XML I put coordinates from Flight Simulator, with lat. and lon. both positive and without N/E signs. Also altitude is AGL was set to yes and to na + specified height, still nothing.
I have been searching for posts on Avsim's forum and here, nothing found. Does anybody have a clue, have I forgot to set something?

Thanks in advance and best regards,

Hi Goran,

Maybe a stupid suggestion, but did you not forget to remove the comments in the XML file around the placement code? This has happened to most of us :D.

Also make sure that you entered the coordinates correct, the first time I put a minus wrong and ended up looking for my object on the wrong place.

Stupid question allowed, happened to me also in the normal Delphi programming but unfortunatelly this is not the case. Here is the XML file:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">

	<!-- Sample object placement. Remove comment markers to place object east of 34R at Sea Tac. -->
	<!--
	<SceneryObject lat="47 25.89" lon="-122 18.43" alt="0" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
		<LibraryObject name="8ADFC7F1445ED75C91918B8F3DA1C421" scale="1.0" />
	</SceneryObject>

	-->
	<SceneryObject lat="46 25.48" lon="15 59.08" alt="0" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL">
		<LibraryObject name="8ADFC7F1445ED75C91918B8F3DA1C421" scale="1.0" />
	</SceneryObject>

	<!-- Inclusion of model data. Use the 'Name' of this object to place -->
	<!-- it in other locations. -->
	<ModelData name="8ADFC7F1445ED75C91918B8F3DA1C421" sourceFile="test2.mdl" />
</FSData>
I guess this object should show at position N46 25.48, E15 59.08 which puts the object at the sport airfield Ptuj (near LJMB, about 15nm SE). Any ideas? :(
Regards,

Hi Goran,

I tested your file and it works fine here.

But I also noticed that I had to turn of your scenery first (might be logical as your scenery was on a higher layer then my test folder, so the excludes would exclude the object).

Success!

Argh!
Yes, that was it! I put it into addon scenery but on Ptuj I have small excludes because of autogen. Stupid me :banghead:
Thanks, now let's proceed to another lesson... :teacher:

Best regards,
